1977 - The Hotel Polem in Amsterdam burns down, killing 33 and injuring 21.
1978 – Italian Prime Minister Aldo Moro is murdered by the Red Brigades.
1980 - In Florida, a Liberianfreighter, MV Summit Venture collides with the Sunshine Skyway Bridge in Tampa Bay, making a section of it collapse, killing 35 people.
