List of Formula One polesitters[edit]

List of Formula One polesitters (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Nominator(s): NapHit (talk) 16:46, 13 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

This is my third attempt at getting this list to featured standard. I've gone through it recently to bring it up to scratch and hopefully it meets the standard. Been a while since I've been here, so apologies if I'm not up to date with the latest procedures. As always, thanks for the comments and the time taken to review, much appreciated. Comments
  • "Sebastian Vettel is the youngest polesitter, he was 21 years …" – either use a semicolon or an en dash instead of the comma.
  • Rest of the prose reads well
  • All images should include alt text
  • For Jim Clark's image caption, should use en dash instead of hyphen between "1967-1989"
  • Otherwise, all images utilized are licensed and tagged.
  • The one general ref could be sandwiched in between ((refbegin)) and ((refend)) (to make it the same font size as the specific refs)
  • For accessibility per MOS:DTT, left column of the key should include scope rows (see List of Major League Baseball single-inning home run leaders on how to format this)
  • Again for accessibility, replace all the asterisks with the ((asterisk)) template
  • If I'm not mistaken, bold or italics should not be used alone (i.e. should come with accompanying symbol for accessibility). For F1 champs, perhaps supplement with another accessible symbol like ((double-dagger)), ((&)), ((Number sign)), etc.

Comments from Harrias[edit]

Forix is a part of Motorsport Network which is a reputable publisher of motorsport info and news. Think you're right about the publisher, so I've changed that. NapHit (talk) 17:22, 15 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I was hoping you might be able to give me some help on that front. I noticed it's being used as a source in the Prost list you nominated here, and that it's also used in the Vettel list which has just been nominated. It's the most comprehensive site for F1 stats on the web, but I don't know how reliable it is. This scuppered the nom last time and I'm not sure I ever got a definitive response on the site's reliability as a source. NapHit (talk) 17:22, 15 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Nice way to turn it back on me! Having a look around, The Guardian have quoted StatsF1 as a source a few times, which is good enough for me. It is only being used as a light reference in this article, for a fact that could be removed from the article altogether if necessary, so it isn't a deal-breaker either way for me. Harrias talk 13:18, 16 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

That's all. A nice list, not much wrong with it beyond the missing references in the first paragraph. I am participating in the WikiCup, and intend to claim points from the above review. Harrias talk 08:38, 15 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the comments Harrias, I've addressed your concerns and left a few comments above. NapHit (talk) 17:22, 15 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Comments from MWright96
  • "and in a few cases on closed city streets." - wikilink closed city streets to Street circuit
  • "Drivers are awarded points based on their position at the end of each race," - points can be wikilinked to List of Formula One World Championship points scoring systems
  • "at the front of the starting grid." - grid can be linked to Glossary of motorsport terms#G
  • Reference 7 is dead and will need archiving or replacing with another reliable source
  • Reference 8 is missing the author
  • Reference 13 should have the work as the publisher for consistency
  • "Senna holds the record for the most consecutive poles;" - pole positions
  • "Sebastian Vettel is the youngest polesitter; he was 21 years, 72 days old when he qualified in first place for the 2008 Italian Grand Prix." - BBC Sport does not mention the 72 days fact; please use another source to verify all of this sentence
  • "From 2014, the driver with the most pole positions in a season is awarded the Pole Trophy." - I think this sentence could do with a reference attached to it for verification reasons

That's all from me. A nice list overall. MWright96 (talk) 07:00, 18 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the comments MWright96, much appreciated. I should have addressed all of your concerns. Let me know if you have any further suggestions. NapHit (talk) 17:53, 18 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Support Good work! Note I have made a minor change for consistency and have replaced the ESPN regs source from the early 2010s since it is outdated for this list and stated Q3 currently last 10 minutes. MWright96 (talk) 18:39, 18 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the comment ChrisTheDude, I've gone through and made those changes. NapHit (talk) 21:44, 20 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the review Giants2008, I knew there would be something that had changed since I was last here! I've moved the general ref to the headings in both tables and moved the book ref into a bibliography section. Let me know if that's ok! NapHit (talk) 11:16, 1 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I'd almost forgotten that I made a comment here (sorry about that), but I see that a reference has been provided for the table, so that resolves my concern. The source review has been passed. Giants2008 (Talk) 21:16, 12 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
