Hey, I notice that you have HighBeam access and you seem to have a few topicons. That being said, if you are interested, I've created ((Wikipedia:HighBeam/Topicon))
. No reply to this message is necessary (and I won't see it unless you ping me), just wanted to let you know it was available. Happy editing! — ((U|Technical 13)) (e • t • c) 23:50, 11 July 2014 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that you've added some links pointing to disambiguation pages. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Hello, Andy. Would you like to address the issue raised by 97198, please? Please respond on the DYK nom template. Thanks. --PFHLai (talk) 14:00, 13 July 2014 (UTC)
Do you know why there is a gap added by using the break character in the infobox template in articles such as James Gibbons. The gap looks awkward, as if there is a line of text that is missing. It is created by adding a break character before the person's name. If it is a style that has been agreed on, we should add it to the template directly, but to my eye it looks awkward. What do you think? Is it possible it is there just to add more color to the infobox? Look at James Roosevelt Bayley for one where I removed the gap. I am sure this has been discussed already, but you would be the one to know. You can change back Bayley after you peek at it. --Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) (talk) 00:43, 18 July 2014 (UTC)
Hi, I'm beatleswhobeachboys. If you're okay with it, I would like to, rather than delete the template as you preposed, use it by placing it in the Pink Floyd template, similarly to the Beach Boys template below:

Hi Pigsonthewing. Can you look over this article on Aristeidis Metallinos. Is it still on probation now I've added referenced citations and more specific categories? Suggest improvements? Is 'my' article still Start-Class? Simon Baddeley (talk) 13:01, 23 July 2014 (UTC)

Andy, how would you like to fit ((Infobox NHS trust))
into East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust - it's currently a real mess. Looking through Category:NHS hospital trusts, several of the others use a bespoke table in a similar manner. Several use ((Infobox Hospital))
; unfortunately, a NHS trust may be responsible for more than one hospital. --Redrose64 (talk) 11:36, 24 July 2014 (UTC)
Hi Andy. I'm having rather didactic advice from another [editor] recommending immediate removal of a citation in the article I started recently. This editor is unwilling to discuss my contention that a citation - a public domain letter from Seamus Heaney to the subject also quoted in a book review of Pine's work - is not necessarily a primary source (I do know the rules). Chris Troutman seems to imply I might even have faked the letter in question, and that I "claim" to have degrees, and referring to "resorting to a website". I have no idea what he means. I don't feel inclined to get into an argument with someone prepared to write to me in these terms. QUOTE You asked for my suggestions; I replied. If you don't want the facts don't ask for them. Obviously, you are way out of your depth. I find it sad that someone whom claims to have degrees resorts to a website to publish their thoughts. If you can't contribute according to our norms, take your ball and go home. Chris Troutman (talk) 23:44, 23 July 2014 (UTC) END So much for "Welcome to Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia that anyone can edit." Am I being overly defensive? Is there a better way to cite this letter from the Heaney estate? Simon Baddeley (talk) 07:58, 24 July 2014 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on Template:Difflinks examples requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section T3 of the criteria for speedy deletion because it is an unused duplicate of another template, or a hard-coded instance of another template. After seven days, if it is still unused and the speedy deletion tag has not been removed, the template will be deleted.
If the template is not actually the same as the other template noted, please feel free to remove the speedy deletion tag and please consider putting a note on the template's page explaining how this one is different so as to avoid any future mistakes (<noinclude>((substituted))</noinclude>).
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page's talk page, where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. APerson (talk!) 01:10, 26 July 2014 (UTC)
Andy, it's been almost two weeks, and the article you nominated remains too short, the hook fact unsourced, and a quid pro quo review has yet to be supplied. Please take action right away to supply the extra material, sourcing, and review; the nomination is on the verge of being closed. Thank you. BlueMoonset (talk) 17:41, 26 July 2014 (UTC)

Andy, I would like to add a 40 second video to Sip 'n Dip Lounge, but am not sure if that's a good idea (I have video of the piano player, "Piano Pat") I know you do the audio recording stuff, maybe you could help me out in terms of how much compression, etc. I once figured out how to export video into a commons-compatible format (with this little animation of still photos ) but I don't know if I used the best format, etc. Help? Andy, I was glad to meet you and give you a Wikipedia editor hat at WikiMania 2012. I will have more hats at WikiMania 2014.
I don't follow how the lightning talks are going to happen, nor how I would sign up, and I would suspect I am not the only one. I have given several 2 minute lightning talks at the NYC chapter meetings, so I know how they are done. See my Hackathon entry about WikiProject templates for something I would talk briefly about in a lightning talk.
Perhaps you can reply to me here, and also clarify or get someone else to clarify lightning talks on the WikiMania 2014 pages.--DThomsen8 (talk) 13:26, 30 July 2014 (UTC)

I am after your advice as I believe you are experienced and knowledgeable enough to point me in the right direction. It is related to the current Persondata RfC.
On a personal level, I just want a reliable source of birth and death dates. I am currently working on a comparison of Persondata and Wikidata, see User:Periglio/Wikidata. This has already revealed a large discrepancy and I am digging deeper to find out where the problem is. It has already confirmed that there is nothing in place to keep Wikipedia and Wikidata synchronised.
Ultimately, I want to see Wikidata becoming the reliable source, which is where you come in. I have the technology to write bots that will interrogate pages, updating pages or flagging problems. I have been a Wikipedia editor since 2006, but Wikidata is new to me so I am not sure where to start. Where is a good place to introduce myself? Periglio (talk) 10:23, 4 August 2014 (UTC)
Have redactively edited the Cleanup tag at George M. Church, otherwise ask that you not remove tags, again, given the fact that there is an ongoing Noticeboard discussion of the issues involved (which makes reference to this and the other tags). Of all of them, the Cleanup tag is most easily understood in stating the issues involved. I shortened it to be responsive to the thrust of your concern. Please do not confuse matters by removing it. Cheers. Le Prof Leprof 7272 (talk) 04:10, 31 July 2014 (UTC)
The tags, and the COI, POV, and OR issues they imply, are currently under discussion at a COI Noticeboard, see here [57]. PLEASE DO NOT EDIT THE TAGS AT THE ARTICLE TOP UNTIL THAT NOTICEBOARD ARRIVES AT A COMMUNITY DECISION. THIS IS NOT ONE EDITOR'S CALL. Le Prof Leprof 7272 (talk) 00:59, 5 August 2014 (UTC)
Hi Pigsonthewing, I was looking at the List of Gaelic Athletic Association stadiums where I saw how you added a column for gps coordinates. A long time ago I know, but that doesn't really matter for my question. As a new wikipedian, adding coordinates seems like it would be simple but now that I look at it I can't seem to get my head around it. Considering you have experience with adding gps coordinates before and after taking a seconds glance at your (unending list of) contributions, I figured you'd be the guy to ask! Is adding coordinates as simple as getting them off google earth or walking out to the place with gps then editing the page with the coordinates you got? But each of the coordinates link to a website called 'Geohack' Do I need to create a page here first for the coordinates before putting them on wikipedia? I would be extremely grateful if you could explain this to me. Thank you so much! The Free Editor Anyone Can Cite (talk) 02:00, 5 August 2014 (UTC)
