List of veterans of World War I who died in 2010 (edit · talk · history · links · watch · logs · delete)

Either way (talk) has nominated this page for deletion for the reason:

Seems to be too narrow of a list topic. At best there can be five names on this list. Any of the deaths listed on the page can just be listed on the 2010 or Deaths in 2010 articles.

Please discuss this deletion below, but keep in mind that you shouldn't vote on everything and that there may be options that are not just "keep" or "delete", such as merging.

• Delete There are (unfortunately) too few people who could be included on this list. There are only 3 veterans known to be alive in the world (Claude Choules, Frank Buckles and Florence Green. In 2009, 8 veterans died. This would make more sense if we had articles of these lists going back (for example, the English Wikipedia has lists going back to 1999), but to be honest, I don't think this could be justified on this Wikipedia. -- PhantomSteve/talk|contribs\ 10:56, 21 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

• Delete WWI was 1914-1918. If I calculate that the soldiers fighting were 14 (they were probably 16 or older, but anyway, let's just presume), they were born "around" 1900. In the year 2010, they would therefore have been around 110 years old. Where I live, life expectancy is in the 75-85 range (like with most of Europe). Meaning, that "on average", the "survivors" died in the 1970s. Same calculation for WWII (1938-1945). I know that 16 years olds fought in WWII. Birth date "around" 1922. Life expectancy same as above. Meaning most survivors died in the 1990s. (Note to mathematicians: Do not build arguments like that, they are grossly oversimplified).
