February 2024

Hey there, BigKrow! Here are a few good ideas that you can use to help making articles in the future:

Thanks for reading this long message, and happy changing here on Simple English Wikipedia! MathXplore (talk) 07:16, 3 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. BigKrow (talk) 22:28, 13 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Quick deletion

Hi there. Please make sure to provide a reason to delete the article you are requesting speedy deletion of, with the reason being one of the criteria listed on the deletion policy. You can format it as ((sd|a1)) for example. Thanks, --Ferien (talk) 22:21, 13 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. BigKrow (talk) 22:28, 13 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Please provide reasons for deletion requests

Hello, at en:n:special:diff/4763486, an admin has requested you to provide valid reasons for your deletion requests. Please remember that the same manner is expected in all Wikimedia projects including here. Please also note that deletion requests without reasons may be rejected. For valid reasons for our project, please see WP:QD. In addition, SD tags must come to the top, not the bottom. If you add tags to the bottom, admins have to scroll to the end of the page. Thank you for helping simplewiki. MathXplore (talk) 01:47, 26 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Again, please provide reasons for deletion requests. If you don't know how to write them, feel free to ask questions. MathXplore (talk) 02:22, 21 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia:Twinkle

Please consider using this, this can help your deletion requests. It is widely used in our project and enwiki. MathXplore (talk) 02:00, 26 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion requests

I was processing current deletion requests and noticed that your request for Dj Tubet was not listed at WP:Deletion requests. When you create a deletion request, you must list it there or it will not be processed. I will put it there, but please be sure to do that yourself for any that you create in the future. Thanks. -- Auntof6 (talk) 12:54, 1 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Drug dog

Two things:

  1. Do you think Drug dog should be redirected to Police dog?
  2. A user who created an article is usually allowed to blank it (especially if they just recently created it). This is taken to mean that they accept it being deleted, and it can be deleted under ((Qd-author)).

Kk.urban (talk) 17:46, 6 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Drug sniffing dog or police dog sounds fine, what do you think? Thank you. BigKrow (talk) 17:49, 6 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I mean we already have an article about police dogs, and a drug-sniffing dog is one kind of police dog, but maybe the page drug dog isn't yet long enough to be a separate article. Kk.urban (talk) 17:51, 6 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
RFD? BigKrow (talk) 17:52, 6 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'll just redirect it. Kk.urban (talk) 17:52, 6 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hey

Just wanted to let you know I did a test on my rollback as a script seemed to be blocking it. I reverted it back to your edit with the qd tag on it. Did not want you to be confused. Thanks - PDLTalk to me!Please don't eat da 🐑! 14:59, 2 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

No problem! BigKrow (talk) 16:08, 2 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
So what do you think now? Erich von Manstein Thanks and edit well! - PDLTalk to me!Please don't eat da 🐑! 17:04, 2 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Looks great!!! Thank you!!! BigKrow (talk) 18:35, 2 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Linking

Hey BigKrow,

To let you know we do not link to common terms that are universally known. I saw you relinked Village, Saskatchewan, and Canada in La Loche shootings. Saskatchewan I feel is ok, because not everyone will know will that is, but every person knows a a country and a village. Are you ok if I remove the links to those 2? Thanks and edit well! - PDLTalk to me!Please don't eat da 🐑! 21:31, 3 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Yes BigKrow (talk) 21:32, 3 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Ok done. Also, I do not know if we have the full version here, but this is the en wiki version Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style/Linking.
Our exceptions:
  1. We want redlinks galore (en wiki does not and hates them!) - Helps to find out what pages need to be created via Special:WantedPages (you may find something in there you want to write about too) I have found a few I do when I get time)
  2. Common terms that everyone knows (like the two I mentioned) we do not do. Our goal is to keep it simple and if we link to all common terms, then we take the reader off of that article to another one to find out they already know what a village is, what a police force is, what the internet is, etc.
There is a link and a conversation somewhere that I cannot recall at the moment as I am working on an article for someone and doing a review, but I figured this can be helpful for you. Thanks and edit well! - PDLTalk to me!Please don't eat da 🐑! 21:42, 3 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for being kind to me even though I was being an arse to you.... BigKrow (talk) 21:45, 3 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hey it is all good. Things happen and they go away. We all make mistakes and we learn from them. Thanks and edit well! - PDLTalk to me!Please don't eat da 🐑! 21:55, 3 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
(talk page stalker) I think Simple English Wikipedia is different because we can only assume people know the words on WP:Basic English combined wordlist, and Canada and village aren't on that list, so it would be okay to link them. Kk.urban (talk) 21:45, 3 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Ok you two please work matters out, ty. BigKrow (talk) 21:46, 3 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Kk.urban
Village - Wikipedia:VOA_Special_English_Word_Book
As far as Canada, per MOS we do not link well known countries, however, we can link to the article Saskatchewan, Canada which makes more sense (actually I will make that change now). See Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style#Places, Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style#Wikilinking
We do not strictly use the 850 or 1500 word books as other things come into play, like the link above on the VOA. Thanks and edit well! - PDLTalk to me!Please don't eat da 🐑! 22:08, 3 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I understand, thanks! Kk.urban (talk) 22:09, 3 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Kk.urban Anytime. Thanks and edit well! - PDLTalk to me!Please don't eat da 🐑! 22:10, 3 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
