LordAmeth, not running for reelection[edit]

Thanks to everyone who continued to support me, to vote for my reelection time and again, and who respected my experience with Wikipedia and knowledge of certain subjects. I took a long Wikibreak this year, and regret that in doing so I severely failed in my obligations to the Project as a Coordinator. A lot of great progress has been made in my absence, and I trust that the Project is in wonderful hands, and will continue to be quite successful.

I am in any case looking to scale back my involvement with the 'pedia, to return to writing and editing entries rather than being involved with administrative tasks, discussions, and the like. I shall of course continue to contribute on Military History topics here and there, and would love to continue to be seen as a respected, experienced contributor of Japan-related topics; if anyone has any history-content questions or Wikipedia policy questions they think I can help out with, I would be happy to try to answer them.

Thanks again. LordAmeth (talk) 02:05, 2 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

shalom eleichem[edit]

may we see moshiach tzidkeinu speedily and in our day, and the military will be obsolete. until then, the best path to peace is to be prapared for war. if we choose shame, we might have war and shame. with love of israel, Yosef.garibaldi.gmail (talk) 22:43, 16 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Electorate?[edit]

"Both project members and interested outside parties are encouraged to ask questions of the nominees or make general comments."
It's not clear to me if voting is open to "outside parties", or is restricted to "project members".
Could somebody clarify this please? Cheers, Pdfpdf (talk) 15:34, 17 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

On that note, I hope sub-projects are OK too - I'm a longstanding member of WP:ROMIL but not (as of yet) the project as a whole. Biruitorul Talk 01:47, 19 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

We consider members of the individual task forces to be a part of the project as a whole, even if you did not add your name to the main list of project members. In short, its alright. TomStar81 (Talk) 02:14, 19 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. So, just to remove any possible ambiguity, voting is open to outside parties. Right? Cheers, Pdfpdf (talk) 10:41, 19 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Normally, I'd just say "yes, go ahead" but as this is in the middle of election in which I'm running that is inappropriate. Instead, I've asked for an answer here. You may wish to contribute to that discussion. --ROGER DAVIES talk 07:58, 21 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks again. I think I'll shortcut any possible problems by not voting. In the meantime, I'll throw my metophoric support behind the guys I've seen doing good work, which is most of last term's committee, and say "Well done guys!". Cheers, Pdfpdf (talk) 08:58, 21 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Question[edit]

No offense for anyone, but is it possible to vote for yourself? A candidate just did that and i'm wondering if this is fair or not... --Eurocopter (talk) 10:37, 23 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

He might have done it as a mistake. I don't think it matters, though. Assuming everyone voted for themselves then the difference between candidates would remain the same, regardless. If some candidates decided to not vote for themselves, the difference between candidates is so great that the one vote may not even matter. JonCatalán(Talk) 14:09, 23 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I know it doesn't really matters for now (we would not want to be in the situation it would matter), but I asked as a principle, if it is fair or not. --Eurocopter (talk) 15:07, 23 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well, if everybody voted for themselves, then the tally would technically still be the same. But since no one else did, it probably isn't fair, so his vote should probably be removed, or else put up a notification stating that it is OK for candidates to vote for themselves. (Not that it really matters for me, bringing up the rear :)) ṜέđṃάяķvюĨїήīṣŢ Drop me a line 15:37, 23 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I think that he made a mistake; he just removed his name. -talk- the_ed17 -contribs- 00:50, 24 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry I should have paid attention some more. YellowMonkey (bananabucket) 01:15, 24 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've moved the vote to under Kirill's section where it was supposed to be. YellowMonkey (bananabucket) 01:17, 24 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
