The project coordinators are generally responsible for maintaining all of the procedural and administrative aspects of the project, and serve as the designated points-of-contact for procedural issues. They are not, however, endowed with any special executive powers, nor with any authority over article content or editor conduct. The Lead Coordinator bears overall responsibility for coordinating the project; the Assistant Coordinators aid the Lead Coordinator and focus on specific areas that require special attention.
A more detailed description of the coordinators' responsibilities is available here; some specific examples of day-to-day coordinator work can be found here.
Incumbents
More information on the history of the coordinator positions can be found here.
Election process
- The election will run for about four weeks, starting at 00:00 (UTC) on February 1 and ending at 23:59 (UTC) on February 28.
- Any member of the project may nominate themselves for a position by adding their statement in the "Candidates" section below by the start of the election. The following boilerplate can be used:
=== Name ===
((user|Name))
: Statement goes here...
==== Comments and questions for Name ====
*''What skills/qualities can you contribute as a Novels coordinator?''
*''In your opinion, where is the Novels project the weakest, and what do you feel can be done about it?''
- The election will be conducted using simple approval voting. Any member of the project may support as many of the candidates as they wish. The candidate with the highest number of endorsements will become the Lead Coordinator (provided he or she is willing to assume the post); the next eight candidates will become Assistant Coordinators. The number of Assistant Coordinators may be increased if there is a tie or near-tie for the last position.
- Both project members and interested outside parties are encouraged to ask questions of the nominees or make general comments once the voting phase commences on February 1.
- Voting temporarily postponed.

- I'm a regular contributor to the Percy Jackson task force and am into books in general. Since nobody has signed up, I thought I'd just throw my name into the hat. I'm looking to help WikiProject Novels flourish, although the role of lead coordinator seems a bit daunting. I'm a moderately experienced user but would like, if approved, to act only as an assistant coordinator until I gain further experience and feel ready to guide a whole WikiProject. - I have been semi-active helping around WikiProject Novels and highly active in the Percy Jackson task force and WikiProject Warriors, both of which fall under WikiProject Novels. My contributions that are most related to this project in specific are attempting to clear the Category:Unknown-importance novel articles and helping with assessment. I love books and my favorite articles to work on are about books (or authors). I do not have the most experience here (only a year and ~6,500 edits), but I would love to help this project thrive. Like the other two current candidates (Airplaneman and Tetobigbro), I would probably be better as assistant coordinator, but would do my best in any position. I trust the community's judgment of my ability and would still be glad to help as a regular member. PrincessofLlyr royal court 01:17, 4 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

- I am a contributor to many Ted Dekker books, along with many other books and series. I am currently a part of the peer review team, the Warriors task force, the Chronicles of Narnia task force, and the Task Force News position for the newsletter, and I, personally, am working on creating four new articles on certain novels. I love to read and make articles on any books that I have read that don't already have articles. I am relatively new to Wkipedia, and so I am still learning, just as I always will be. I strive to learn all I can and, just as Airplane man said, would be proud to be named lead coordinator, but I would probably be best as an assistant coordinator at first, and then progress.Tetobigbro talk 02:59, 3 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
