The Tag & Assess drive has completed another month. There are over 50,000 articles that need to be reviewed. We have already assessed over 21,800 articles! This will take a project-wide effort to complete, and it will be helpful if you complete even just one range (of course, you may like it and want to do more!). As we strive to do these project-wide complete assessments only every 5 years or so, it is helpful if every film member helps a bit to prevent it from dragging on. The vast majority of the Stub-class articles are available to review, and each article usually takes just a few seconds to complete (many do not require reassessment at all). Completing this drive will allow our members to focus on more pressing issues within the project. The top three reviewers so far are Big Bird (3,000), Bovineboy2008 (1,800), and Peppage/Pjoef (1,000). With many ranges still available, you can still compete for the top awards. Instructions can be found on the drive's page. A new tips section has been added with instructions on how to reduce the time it takes to review each article.
We currently have two FACs open, American Beauty and Star Trek III: The Search for Spock. Consider weighing in at their nomination pages on what further improvements the articles need to meet the FA criteria.
Our project currently has over 63,500 film-related articles, with 61,600 that have been assessed by our assessment department! Remember to always add the ((Film|class=)) template to a film article's talk page so the project can get a better idea of what work still needs to be done. Below is a table showing a breakdown of our articles by class. Many of our unassessed articles have been reviewed thanks to participation in the Tag & Assess drive.
Spotlight Update: Multiple films and film-related articles have reached GA and FA status in February 2010.Jaws is currently at FAR and could use assistance in helping it maintain its FA status.
Remember that any editor can give the WikiProject Films Award to another WP:Films member. If you do present this award, please make mention of it here or tell one of the newsletter editors who will then include it in the next issue.
Please add your name to the member list if you have not already.
If you've just joined, add your name to the Participants section of Wikipedia:WikiProject Films. You'll get a mention in the next issue of the Newsletter and get it delivered as desired. Also, please include your own promotions and awards in future issues. Don't be shy!
Lastly, this is your newsletter and you can be involved in the creation of the next issue (Issue 3 – March 2010). Any and all contributions are welcome. Simply let yourself be known to any of the undersigned, or just start editing!
