- Suspected sockpuppets
Shared fixation on Dan's autobiography at Dan Costa (musician), Dan costa (musician), Daniel Costa. No other contributions.
Dan gave up on 5 July, Dot started on 23 July. Quack! Bazj (talk) 11:53, 6 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

- Suspected sockpuppets
Three IPs with no prior edits all contesting Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Dan Costa (musician) in similar style. 94.60.69.79 edited article overlapping with Dorothy (meatpuppets?),then contested AfD in similar style to the other IPs. Bazj (talk) 07:40, 9 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

- Clerk note: Those IPs are obviously sockpuppets or meatpuppets. I'm calling an admin to block 89.152.185.161 for three days (she singes as "Dorothy" [1]) and to block 94.60.69.79 for a week (it seams static, see: [2], in use since 23 July). Other two made just one edit each and should not be blocked for now. Vanjagenije (talk) 17:31, 9 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
- I'm closing with no action. The blocks made sense at the time of the request, but since the IPs have been quiet. If they renew their disruption, this can be revisited.--Bbb23 (talk) 10:08, 16 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Suspected sockpuppets
[edit]Singular focus on writing about Dan Costa (musician) at various pagenames. Dancosta74 was created not long after User:Daniel7474 went dormant. The 94. IP is same IP vicinity as several previous ones listed in the SPI. And a bunch of other IPv6 in that same ISP's/geolocate pool (2A02:587:DA00::/40) are also involved (history of that article and other articles related to this person). So it's not just COI (note username) but abusing multiple accounts to do so (serial named, and evading scrutiny by hopping IPs). DMacks (talk) 08:30, 2 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
And now up pops:
a brand new account whose first action is to use the 'thank' function for one of my edits on the article and whose second edit is to remove the COI tag on the article (the target article of all that account's edits so far). Sock, or at best meat? DMacks (talk) 11:56, 2 December 2019 (UTC)
...and who now admits to being a shared account. DMacks (talk) 16:23, 3 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

- Awaiting administrative action - Continuing self-promotion despite final warning at User talk:Daniel7474#July 2016. Please indef the named sock. The IP is stale. Please deal with the master as appropriate. Disclosure: I was previously Bazj - see archive. Cabayi (talk) 11:03, 2 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
- Blocked and tagged all three named accounts above. But, I need to emphasize that the block here is based on these three accounts clearly being either the same person (i.e. sockpuppets), or several people acting in close cooperation (i.e. meatpuppets). The "final warning" mentioned here was for promotional editing, which is outside the scope of SPI. -- RoySmith (talk) 17:51, 4 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
- Up to a point... It's the fact that they were trying to avoid the consequences of ignoring a final warning that provides the element of WP:ILLEGIT which elevates the case into sockpuppetry rather than a simple case of sequential accounts, forgotten password, or WP:CLEANSTART. Cabayi (talk) 20:48, 4 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
- FWIW, Maria19791979's use of the first person plural was the strongest evidence to me. -- RoySmith (talk) 20:55, 4 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
