Suspected sockpuppets

Evidence submitted by VartanM (talk)

There is something fishy going on between this two users and it calls for an investigation. For example here Baku87 warned Eupator (which in this case was nothing more than baiting), soon to be followed by Baki66 who posted the same link in Juliancolton talkpage. More cohesion on articles as can be seen here, here, here, etc. If they are found to be socks of one another it would mean Baku87 used a sock to evade 3RR limit, as well as used a sock to make multiple votes. [1] and [2] as well as [3] and [4]. Also to be considered, you can check both users contribution timezone as well as when they appear. Recently Baki66 reveled his IP address on commons[5] which traces to Königswinter, Germany. Baku87 has an ebay account[6] where he sells items from Königswinter, Germany. Both users interchangeably revert for one another and edit war. VartanM (talk) 05:36, 27 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Comments by accused parties    See Defending yourself against claims.

First of all yes Eupator insulted me by accusing me for a fascist, my grandfather fought hard, lost all his friends even his good arm in WWII and here Eupator is making fun out of me. So obviously I am insulted by such a comment and I just told him this in his talk page, he chose to ignore me. And so have you VartanM here you called me and I qoute: Nationalistic wet dreams by Baku87 then another insult to me here and again I qoute: your maps are simply nationalistic ejaculation I founded this kind of language very abusive and left a message in your talkpage asking you to account for it. But what did you do? You just deleted it, see here. Now just like your post it has all little to do with accused case, I only reverted the vandalism conducted by IP user 216.165.12.158 by taking a look at his contributions here in which you see a grand vandalism campaign and I bet this is how [User:Baki66|Baki66]] did it aswell. Another thing is I would like to know on which ground you have concluded that I ebay account baku87 is mine. The fact is I dont even have a ebay account, I dont buy or sell anything on the internet at all and Im not from Germany, Im from Netherlands. Vacio requested me to talk Dutch to him to proof that Im from Netherlands, see here. This shows us Im from Netherlands, still dont believe me? Please anyone trace my IP and see were I am from, I will now logout and make a comment again and you will see my IP, trace it and you will see that everything I said is true. I have nothing to hide. Baku87 (talk) 10:27, 27 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This case is very simple to solve, doesnt need much research just trace my IP. 85.146.213.29 (talk) 10:28, 27 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Also not to mention your threats against me here Baku87 (talk) 12:34, 27 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This report appears to be baseless. No serious evidence of sockpuppetry has been presented. A CU might be useful to put an end to these suspicions. Grandmaster 10:44, 27 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

As my username was mentioned above, I think it would be useful to report what I know about Baku87 and Baki66, though most of my information comes from the Dutch WP, where both of them have edited in various times.
  • Baku87 participated Dutch WP both as User:Azeri and as IP user 85.146.213.29. By some of his uploads he informed that he is the owner of the website www.euro-caspian.com, which was launched in October 2005 with the main purpose "to provide objective and reliable information related to Azerbaijan"[7]. User Azeri was not active in the Duch Wikipedia since 2006, while IP user 85.146.213.29 continued to edit there until recent. At the same time I have to note, that it seems very likely that Baku87/Azeri and User:Redz, who recently registered in the Dutch wiki are the same person, which is evident from the history page of Azerbeidzjaanse luchtmacht (the Dutch article for Azerbaijan Air Force )
  • Baki66 edited the Dutch WP more briefly with the user name Baki66 and mainly engaged in move warrings of the Sjoesja (Shusha) and Stepanakert articles. I believe it is also noteworthy that Baki66, unlike Baku87, apparently does not speak Dutch, at least he always used English to post on discussion pages in the Dutch WP. Though indeed much of his edits suspiciously concide with those of Baku87. --Vacio (talk) 13:14, 27 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

If I may: VartanM is not the only one to have (or to have had? still not sure) some suspicions about this. "Retaliation" is probably not the right word here. Sardur (talk) 18:07, 27 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Clerk, patrolling admin and checkuser comments

IP 79.239.49.118 has no contributions or deleted contributions. I don't see the point of listing them. Baku is a major city. It is not surprising that several users choose it to fashion usernames, nor is it surprising that people with connections there edit from a similar point of view, as multiple users from Connecticut might appear to have similar points of view to each other. That would not make them my sock puppets. This request appears to be fishing, and it appears that User:VartanM may be retaliating for his recent block. Jehochman Talk 17:47, 27 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

What is fishy is Jehochman's insinuations, he obviously did not check both users contributions, he can check the articles both contributed in, and see how both exchanged reverts. Baku87, if I remember correctly was already caught using a sock, User:Talyshli. So obviously it won't be the first time. VartanM (talk) 23:12, 27 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
VartanM is making bogus accusations. A quick glance at Talyshli (talk+ · tag · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · spi block · block log · CA · CheckUser(log· investigate · cuwiki) userpage and block log shows that they are a sock of somebody else. I will now consider what to do about User:VartanM's WP:POINT violations in filing this report against a content adversary and making bogus accusations. Jehochman Talk 03:59, 28 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Sir Jehochman, you obviously do not have a clue of what you are talking about. It is true that Talyshli was banned as being AdilBaguirov, because of the timing and the fact that he was reverting to Adilbaguirov version, but it ended up that he was actually Baku87 and the ban was maintained because he was Baku87. A recent adversary? For the umpteenth, check Baki66 contribution and you will see that this user was basically used to revert other users and that the reverts were made interchangeably. And before replying again, check his contribution here, beside adding Baku87 maps and reverting, most of the rest of his contribution were in Azerbaijan military articles mainspace (one of Baku87 main interests). I did not accuse him of being a sock, I said that given the situation a checkusers is warranted. At the very least Baki66 is proxying for other users, his reverts are done without explanation in the talkpage and he nearly always follow or precede those of Baku87. Your report closures on the enforcement page showed that you close without checking, please don't transpose what was done there over here. VartanM (talk) 05:09, 28 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I see you have added my name, until you provide a reason for that, I'd consider this to be against WP:POINT. VartanM (talk) 05:09, 28 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The diff you cite does not show that Baku87 was operating a sock puppet account. Either present proper evidence or strike out the unsubstantiated accusations. Jehochman Talk 05:37, 28 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
See Talyshli reply here, it's not a secret that Baku87 lives in the Netherlands. You can require more information by contacting Dmcdevit who run the checkusers. But I don't see why you are making a big story, both sides probably know that information about Talyshli, the subject was brought during the last arbitration case, I just brought it because you were picturing Baku87 as a poor victim of baseless attacks. You were obviously wrong by jumping to the guns, for an insignificant but legitimate request for a checkuser. —Preceding unsigned comment added by VartanM (talkcontribs)
Armenians Azerbaijanis living in the Netherlands are not necessarily sock puppets of each other. This is weak, circumstantial evidence at best. So far you have provided nothing to substantiate sock puppetry or even justify running checkuser. Jehochman Talk 15:47, 28 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Jehochman, I told you to contact the checkuser, or any other checkuser can confirm that, it's probably still in the logs. Don't you have better things to do than having to reply every bit I write? Baku87 has a history of using socks, a suspect account which mainly reverts for him, history of deliberate fabrications (check his last loaded map which was deleted recently), which questions his motives on Wikipedia, possible voting twice. Those are few but enough reason to run a checkuser. Now, I am not going to reply to you anymore, since you're involvement has become anything but constructive. VartanM (talk) 20:51, 28 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
VartanM, please refrain from making personal attacks. You cannot assert negative behavior by another editor in the total absence of evidence. Jehochman Talk 22:34, 28 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
"Armenians living in the Netherlands"? Baku87 will appreciate ^^ It's nothing personal, but this makes me wonder: did you carefully read the links provided by VartanM, or did you write this too quickly? Sardur (talk) 23:59, 28 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
See how little I care about the underlying content dispute. I need a score card to remember which partisans are on which side of the conflict. I have no preference for either view. Jehochman Talk 00:45, 1 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, its pathetic that "care nothing" people like Jehochman are in positions of authority. If an administrator does not understand the subject being discussed, and doesn't care enough about it to try to learn about it, then he/she should have the sense to refrain from commenting on that subject. Meowy 22:20, 1 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Assumptions of bad faith noted. Meowy, you are going to get yourself blocked or banned if you keep using Wikipedia as a battlefield. You are warned. Jehochman Talk 23:21, 1 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Your bad faith does not need to be assumed - you seem to have stated it up front, quote: "See how little I care about the underlying content dispute", and your racial comments do Wikipedia no great service (nobody on this page has said anything about the nationality of editors except you), nor do your threats and your laughable bad-faith claim that I am "using Wikipedia as a battlefield". Would you please just try to cool your language and your hostility, and then address the legitimate points and questions raised by VartanM and others. Or, if you don't want to, leave it to someone who does want to. Meowy 00:12, 2 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Conclusions

Apparent bad faith filing used as a platform for personal attacks. Could a clerk take care of this please? Jehochman Talk 22:34, 28 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
