Suspected sockpuppets

[edit]

This appears to be a large cluster of overlapping promotional SPAs, and it may be even deeper than it looks. I strongly suspect that there may be multiple groups at work here. Let's break it down.

The alleged master was created in 2010, but it only became active this year. It has created many promotional drafts. However, it has also heavily edited Draft:Derrick Simmons (actor, director), which was created by Frile234.

This account, in turn, edited on Draft:Tomoaki Sato, which was created by Jhonybrook23 and also edited by Bolingpoint644.

The latter account created Draft:Battlecrew Space Pirates, which was also edited by SPAs Shieldorg53 and Galdote2. It also had edits by Alexiacatblue.

Digging even deeper, we find that Alexiacatblue is linked to yet other suspicious articles and accounts. For instance, it edited Draft:Art of Ninzuwu, an article created by Gangrcowed and edited heavily by 199.180.146.10, which geolocates to a New York-based company, Align communications.

Alexiacatblue also edited Kerry Lee Crawford, removing AFD tags: [1][2][3]. That article was created by Salman11223, who also created an article on a Pakistani village, of all things. In its original form, it was quite promotional. Just like the alleged master's first edit, it mentioned schools.

All in all, there is something deeply weird about all these intersections by promotional SPAs, and I'm requesting a CU to investigate. GABgab 16:04, 24 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Added an account that created Tomoaki Sato (businessman). GABgab 20:38, 24 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@GeneralizationsAreBad: In the future, please ping me if you change a case in any material way after I start checking. Thanks.--Bbb23 (talk) 21:19, 24 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

If you hadn't already said OPP, I would have told you at least Alexiacatblue, Alishalex and Redarmmy564 are PlikoraT. Admins will be able to see the giveaway behaviours (that's all I'll say here). These accounts intersect with other accounts here (both groups), so my opinion is that OPP read my analysis in the other case and is attempting to impersonate another sockmaster, as I believe they've done in the past. Unless a CU sees a compelling connection to the other case (which I doubt) then tagging these as OPP is fine. I'll leave this for more clerk opinions. As for Ashishchopra778, I think it's an unrelated spammer. They're clearly promoting this "Derrick Simmons" person (not the Derrick Simmons we have an article about) in a style different from OPP's history. Given that the account was asleep for 7 years it's certainly possible they're someone's sock, but I can't block based on that. Ivanvector (Talk/Edits) 14:01, 25 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
OPP is a master who goes all the way, and first off, I thought similar usernames were their way - but then it just seemed to intersect with so many others that I realized that either he was imitating behaviour or simply going on randomness as technicalities allowed, in any case, I cannot say anything with certainty except that restricting this case to itself first is better than connecting with other sockmasters - as we can't separate intentional from randomness. --QEDK () 05:51, 26 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • This should not be merged without an in-depth analysis. If no one is prepared to undertake that - and I can understand why - then it should be left as is. The references to the other case will suffice.--Bbb23 (talk) 15:32, 26 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Identical recreation of Tomoaki Sato (businessman) (currently Tomoaki sato) Chrissymad ❯❯❯ ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 19:29, 8 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I know this has been discussed a bit but there seems to be significant overlap with this group and Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/OfficialPankajPatidar/Archive. Particularly with this user who has recreated an Ashishchopra article AND an identical OPP article here Draft:Cora emmenuel. It also appears that the deletion summary indicates the creation was by blocked user (or sock) of Ashishchopra778 but the last creator was blocked as a sock of OfficialPankajPatidar... Another one to recreate Tomoaki sato. GSS (talk|c|em) 17:41, 10 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@GSS-1987: should this go under OPP? I thought the previous confirmation confirmed it to OPP? I'm losing track at this point since there are so many. XD Chrissymad ❯❯❯ ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 17:45, 10 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

We had a CU yesterday, so I assume we're good for now... until the next batch pops up. Closing. GABgab 21:17, 10 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
