List of Houston Astros first-round draft picks[edit]

Nominator(s): Staxringold talkcontribs 05:45, 11 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Built in the style of featured lists List of New York Mets first-round draft picks and List of Philadelphia Phillies first-round draft picks along with the likely-soon-to-be-featured List of Boston Red Sox first-round draft picks. Give me one second to fix the dab links using the tool, but review away! Staxringold talkcontribs 05:45, 11 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • Kendall Rhine or Rhines?
  • "Each year links to ..." why not just "Links to..." (and no period) to be consistent with the phrasing of the rest of the key?
  • "compensation eligible" shouldn't that be hyphenated? or may "eligible for compensation"?
  • Otherwise this is excellent work. Well done.

Comments from Mm40 (talk). I think I smell another featured topic...
  • The Biggio's and Berkman's ALT texts should mention the "Astros" across their chest.
  • "amateur baseball clubs to its teams" I think "franchises" might be better than "teams". Many picks don't play for the teams that pick them, but for the franchises
  • "while seven outfielders, two first basemen and two third basemen were selected" might be better as "as were seven outfielders, two first basemen, and two third basemen"
  • You may want to spell out MVP
  • "in 2008, his first season with the Philadelphia Phillies after leaving the Astros the previous season" is wordy in its repetition of "season". Any way to cut it a bit shorter?
  • "selection in the draft twice"
  • Why no color for a player not signing?
  • The |work= parameter for reference 5 is missing .com

  • Move comma after quotation mark in "Colt .45s,".
  • In the second paragraph, try to mix up some of the "selected" uses, I count three in two sentences at the moment.
  • "No Astros first-round pick has won a World Series championship". Brad Lidge is mentioned two sentences later. Could you imagine if KV5 saw that? :-) If this is meant to say that no one won those honors for the Astros, state it more directly.

Support – My comment have all been addressed, and everything looks to be at FL level. Giants2008 (27 and counting) 23:08, 24 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • Phew, scared me before I re-read that, I'm doing LAD in my sandbox right now. It's kewl with me, just so long as you intend on bringing it to FL status. I'm worried about TOR, SEA, and some of the other lists that have been made but not polished up (particularly TOR). And that title sounds better, how about we go with "Picks"? Staxringold talkcontribs 21:47, 22 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Yep, Picks seems better. BTW, you may want to make the changes suggested here to all the other first-round picks FLs. I probably would've done LAD except I saw it in your sandbox. Mm40 (talk) 22:16, 22 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
