Operator: NicDumZ ~

Automatic or Manually Assisted: Automatic

Programming Language(s): Python (standard pywikipedia)

Function Overview: .yu top-level domain transition

Edit period(s): One time run, plus probably a couple of small runs once the list has been refined.

Already has a bot flag (Y/N): Yes

Function Details: python replace.py -namespace:0 -fix:yu-tld -weblink:*.yu

This is a really simple set of string replacements to correct big .yu websites. As of now the replacements were established mostly by User:Nikola Smolenski and are:

            (u'www.blic.co.yu', u'www.blic.rs'),
            (u'www.budva.cg.yu', u'www.budva.rs'),
            (u'spc.org.yu', u'spc.rs'),
            (u'www.oks.org.yu', u'www.oks.org.rs'),
            (u'www.kikinda.org.yu', u'www.kikinda.rs'),
            (u'www.ds.org.yu', u'www.ds.org.rs'),
            (u'www.nbs.yu', u'www.nbs.rs'),
            (u'www.serbia.sr.gov.yu', u'www.srbija.gov.rs'),
            (u'eunet.yu', u'eunet.rs'),
            (u'www.zastava-arms.co.yu', u'www.zastava-arms.co.rs'),
            (u'www.airportnis.co.yu', u'www.airportnis.rs'),
            (u'www.belex.co.yu', u'www.belex.rs'),
            (u'beograd.org.yu', u'beograd.rs'),
            (u'www.vlada.cg.yu', u'www.vlada.me'),
            (u'webrzs.statserb.sr.gov.yu', u'webrzs.stat.gov.rs'),

but I'm adding site replacements whenever I find a big set of .yu websites.

Discussion

[edit]

I made a few edits to show the intended behavior.

This set of changes is really simple and uncontroversial. I know how "simple" unapproved changes on en: can easily lead to misunderstandings in the community, so I am filling formally this request for official authorization.

But please make this quick =P

Approved for trial (20 edits). Please provide a link to the relevant contributions and/or diffs when the trial is complete. Richard0612 14:16, 19 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
You're not going to believe that. I came home, and launched a trial run, with the idea of interrupting the bot after 20 edits or so. But... long, hard day, lot of (real-life) things to do, combined with the impression that this script was really safe... I just completely, complety forgot to stop it. I went to bed with my bot running through the whole wiki.
... Starting a BRFA, and go on with the task without its formal approval... It's called wasting my own time, and not complying with the rules I was trying to comply with. Grr.
Sorry :/ NicDumZ ~ 02:17, 20 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Please, pay attention: "http://www.vlada.cg.yu/eng/premijer/vijesti.php?..." urls should not be corrected in "http://www.vlada.me/eng/premijer/vijesti.php?..." but in "http://www.gov.me/eng/premijer/index.php?..." -- Basilicofresco (msg) 09:53, 20 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Done in r6416, thanks. NicDumZ ~ 03:13, 23 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Trial complete.. It took me time to understand that someone was expecting me to put this template here. Things have changed... NicDumZ ~ 03:03, 5 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Approved. Looks ok to me with code fixes. As always remember to be responsive to concerns, yadda yadda. MBisanz talk 07:06, 5 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
