I can't see any difference between this definition and that of a "savant". The PROD was deleted by the user, so i've moved it to XfD. Ironho lds 04:25, 20 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Comment. Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs) · FENS · JSTOR · TWL shows that the term is used to describe someone different from the run of the mill savant. Please check the Book and Scholar results especially. One says, "The term prodigious savant is reserved for those very rare persons in an already uncommon condition where the special skill or ability is so outstanding that...". Another says, "The prodigious savant represents a very high threshold group and there are probably less than 100 such known persons living worldwide at the present time." Currently the Savant article is small enough to accommodate this article, and the average user actually expects this definition when they look up "savant". (As did the nominator.)
