This one's a bit of a marginal case. All Rennick's Grayson County directory says about Hites Run is that it had a post office from October 1891 to April 1892, or about 7 months. All of the topos I can find only show a Hites Run church, but they only date back to 1934. GNIS entry is for the church. However, there was definitely a small rural neighborhood here in the 1890s and 1900s, as there's a couple passing mentions in newspapers.com for people "from Hites Run" and a handful of references to the "Hites Run neighborhood". After about 1910, stuff is mostly just for the church. Most detail any of them have is a reference that there was an application for a Hites Run post office in 1905 that possibly would have been named Pike instead, but I've seen no indication this application was accepted. (Rennick's Grayson County directory doesn't seem to say anything about a place known as Pike). So what we have here is a rural neighborhood that by all indications was very small and had a fourth-class post office for 7 months in the 1890s. I would argue that this doesn't reach legally recognized populated place for WP:GEOLAND, and WP:GNG certainly is not met, but others may disagree about GEOLAND. • Keep as it meets WP:GEOLAND: "Populated, legally recognized places are typically presumed to be notable, even if their population is very low. Even abandoned places can be notable, because notability encompasses their entire history" (emphases mine.)   • WestCD What's the evidence that it was legally recognized, though? The GNIS entry isn't enough (see WP:GNIS), and I can point to a number of AFDs where it was ruled that a short-lived post office isn't enough, either.     • I was going off of the "small rural neighborhood" with a church you mentioned as evidence of it being populated, not just the post office. To be honest I'm not sure where/how to look up legal recognition though. WestCD (talk) 03:32, 4 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
