- keep Searching gives lots of hits, most of them describing the practice. Two relevant federal sources are this and this, the first of which describes the practice. Both predate the movie, and I found another mention stating the practice occurred as far back as WW II. The article is never going to be much longer than this, but other than the sourcing I see no issues with it and its notability is inarguable from the sources I see.
