Tips
  • Don't be afraid to edit! Just find something that can be improved and make it better. Other editors will help fix any mistakes you make.
  • It's normal to feel a little overwhelmed, but don't worry if you don't understand everything at first—it's fine to edit using common sense.
  • If an edit you make is reverted, you can discuss the issue at the article's talk page. Be civil, and don't restore the edit unless there is consensus.
  • Always use edit summaries to explain your changes.
  • When adding new content to an article, always include a citation to a reliable source.
  • If you wish to edit about a subject with which you are affiliated, read our conflict of interest guide and disclose your connection.
  • Have fun! Your presence in the Wikipedia community is welcome.

Happy editing! Cheers, Pharaoh of the Wizards (talk) 13:43, 5 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Recent edit reversion

In this edit here, I reverted some information that appears to be a violation of our copyright policy.

I provided a brief summary of the problem in the edit summary, which should be visible just below my name. You can also click on the "view history" tab in the article to see the recent history of the article. This should be an edit with my name, and a parenthetical comment explaining why your edit was reverted. If that information is not sufficient to explain the situation, please ask.

I do occasionally make mistakes. We get hundreds of reports of potential copyright violations every week, and sometimes there are false positives, for a variety of reasons. (Perhaps the material was moved from another Wikipedia article, or the material was properly licensed but the license information was not obvious, or the material is in the public domain but I didn't realize it was public domain, and there can be other situations generating a report to our Copy Patrol tool that turn out not to be actual copyright violations.) If you think my edit was mistaken, please politely let me know and I will investigate. S Philbrick(Talk) 12:21, 14 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Howdy, Takov-kobi. Despite Mr. Sphilbrick's very friendly warning above, you appear to have introduced many new, and rather blatant, copyright violations over the lasts few days at Three Sisters (2012 film), Holiday in the Sun (film), Hidden in the Woods (2012 film), Stand by Your Man (TV series), Over My Dead Body (1942 film), Beretta 418, Draft:Universal Design Kitchens, Draft:Industrial Brothers‎ and others. This is a serious problem. I've disabled this account until you outline your understanding of copyright, and can propose a path forward that is constructive. Thank you. Decline reason:

As copyright violations potentially put Wikipedia in legal jeopardy, we must be convinced that you will not make further copyright violations and that you understand copyright. In your own words, please tell the next reviewing admin what copyright is, what Wikipedia's license is, and when.how copyrighted content may be used on Wikipedia. Your answers to these questions are necessary to show us your understanding. See WP:COPYVIO. 331dot (talk) 09:26, 27 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

hello,

I'm replaying again for unblocking and saying sorry for my mistake and understanding the Consequences involving copyright infringement and the risk I foolishly took. I promise that such a mistake will not happen again. And I am aware of copyright regulations as I wrote below.

Wikipedia copyright refers to the set of rules and guidelines in place to protect intellectual property and ensure the legal and ethical use of content contributed to the platform. It establishes the rights and responsibilities of contributors, safeguarding against unauthorized use of copyrighted material.

Wikipedia operates under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License (CC BY-SA) and, unless specified otherwise, the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL). Under these licenses, contributors allow their original content to be freely distributed, reused, and built upon by others. This collaborative framework encourages the sharing of knowledge while maintaining legal and ethical standards.

Copyrighted content may be used on Wikipedia if it adheres to the platform's copyright policies. Contributors must either be the copyright holders of the text they submit or use material from the public domain or compatibly licensed sources. Copying material without permission from non-public domain sources is considered a copyright violation, and contributors must release their original content under Wikipedia's licenses.

In the case of images and other media, a variety of licenses are accepted, but the content must meet specific criteria to be deemed acceptable.

Handling suspected copyright violations involves reporting issues on discussion pages and tagging pages accordingly. If contributors are copyright holders and wish to share their content on Wikipedia, they must release it under the platform's licenses. Contributors repeatedly violating copyright may face blocks to prevent further issues.

In summary, Wikipedia's copyright policies are designed to foster collaboration while respecting the intellectual property rights of contributors and other copyright holders. Just so you know, users are encouraged to share information responsibly within the framework of the specified licenses. also, I learned to use this tool Earwig's Copyvio Detector (https://copyvios.toolforge.org/) from the internet to check if texts violate copyright policies.
