As I mentioned on my talk page, I have nominated this article for DYK, see Template talk:Did you know#Harry Whitney. Looks like a slam-dunk to me. – ukexpat (talk) 15:21, 2 March 2011 (UTC)
On 11 March 2011, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Harry Whitney, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that Harry Whitney was at the center of the Peary–Cook controversy over who had reached the North Pole first? You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page. |

Page numbers: Don't worry, you are picking this up faster than usual. I will leave a few comments on the article talk page when I have the time. W Nowicki (talk) 18:48, 12 March 2011 (UTC)
I took the liberty of working on the pictures a bit (hope they are an improvement). And a few style nits to the article. Otherwise looks good, thanks. W Nowicki (talk) 23:43, 26 March 2011 (UTC)
I have not figured out yet how to download just a page, but can download the entire pdf from Google and then put that into Photoshop to access the original scan resolution. There are often several different scans of the same book, and various scanners will often re-scan pages with photos with different settings optimized for pictures rather than text (but not this one, alas). I do see what you mean: evidently Whitney was depicted as fairly "lean", but the pdf seems even more squished than the online preview. I tried compensating a bit for the aspect ratio variation, but can only "eyeball" it. And this is a sketch anyway so can never be sure on accuracy. W Nowicki (talk) 17:41, 27 March 2011 (UTC)

ukexpat (talk) 14:52, 4 March 2013 (UTC)Another great job and a very interesting subject! I think we can craft a DYK for this one based on the "swill milk scandal". I did notice that swill milk redirects to Michael Tuomey (politician) - I wonder if there is enough additional content for an article about "swill milk" itself? I will try to work on a DYK, will keep you posted.--ukexpat (talk) 15:06, 4 March 2013 (UTC)
The DYK has been "promoted" and we will receive a notice on our talk pages when it appears on the Main Page. Great work once again!--ukexpat (talk) 14:57, 22 March 2013 (UTC)
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Bradish Johnson, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Garden District... Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 12:40, 5 March 2013 (UTC)
On 24 March 2013, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Bradish Johnson, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that American industrialist Bradish Johnson (pictured) was involved in the "swill milk" scandal, in which organic distillery waste was fed to sick old cows and their milk sold as "farm-fresh"? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Bradish Johnson. You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and it will be added to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page. |
