The Psychology Wiki

[edit]

Hey there, I noticed that you are interesting in Psychology and thought this might interest you...

We are working hard on the Psychology Wiki and are trying to raise awareness about it by indiscriminately spamming telling as many interested people about it as we can. We have an enormous amount of articles already, mainly copied from Wikipedia at the moment:( but the eventual aim is that it will be edited by professional and student contributors, as well as including personal experiences of users of psychology services. As such it will eventaully be a very different beast to the kind of content that Wikipedia has. Have a look at my nicely new designed Main Page, or leave a message on the talk page or on my Psychology Wiki talk page. Hope to hear from you :) Mostly Zen 02:09, 12 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Bypass WikiProject Psychology userbox redirect

Image Tagging for Image:Bulletproof (The Pretender).jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Bulletproof (The Pretender).jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

Update

[edit]
Correction & Update, all screenshots I have uploaded thus far to List_of_The_Pretender_episodes today, it has tagged. I'm having to waste my time now to remove those tags. Thanks -therearenospoons 02:08, 4 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

OrphanBot Defective

[edit]

Your bot flagged my license tagged upload as without a license...twice so far! -therearenospoons 00:42, 4 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The bot is working just fine. If you read the tag, you'll see that it was tagged for not having source information -- that is, a statement saying where you got the image from and who the copyright holder is. --Carnildo 02:56, 4 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use debate regarding television screencaps

[edit]

Currently, there is a debate on Talk:List of Lost episodes regarding whether or not use of a 1/30th stillframe visual excerpt next to a list of audiovisual works (such as List of Lost episodes or List of Stargate Atlantis episodes) is in accordance with WP:Fair use, and has even resulted in the protection of the page.

If you have any opinions regarding fair use on the List of Lost episodes page, please feel free to express them as I believe these two pages are sister projects.

Future reference

[edit]

A screenshot from the science fiction television series Stargate Atlantis. ==Licensing== ((tv-screenshot)) ==Rationale for fair use in List of Stargate Atlantis episodes== ((fairusein|List of Stargate Atlantis episodes)) This picture is being used in Wikipedia's episode listing for the television show Stargate Atlantis (MGM). Although it is subject to copyright, the editors of Wikipedia, among them myself (~~~) in particular, feel that it is covered by US fair use laws because: * It is a low resolution still image; * It does not limit the copyright owner's rights to sell the related product in any way Further, we believe our use of the image is fair because it is not being used merely to decorate the related article, but rather: * Aids commentary on the plot outline; * Poignantly illustrates the related episode Particularly because: * It illustrates the significant moment which characterises the episode in question.

Change the last line ("...significant moment which...") as appropriate for the episode, and why you've chosen that image.

Correct Naming?

[edit]

Just a question (thanks for the template for the images btw), what do you mean with correct naming? I name the screenshots like they were named the last seasons and as I think it's far easier to keep track if they are named with season and episode number. Or is there a concensus on the naming of screenshots which I am not aware of? --SoWhy Talk 12:49, 26 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

RE: Correct naming

[edit]

Welcome :) If you look back at last season and also all the way up to the first pilot episode all the images are named with the 'Episode Title' followed by (Stargate Atlantis) and the file extension. I uploaded all of the second half of Season 2 (which before then I checked to make sure I was following what seemed to have been established), and I also checked every single one of them yesterday because I was updating the licenses to follow suit with the SG-1 Featured List style guide :) To my knowledge it's not written anywhere (no that I have thoroughly investigated it as far as to look for any fine print, since I was satisfied with seeing how all the others were named such and I did not notice any inconsistencies). Just a thought :)

Also in the template code where it has (SoWhy) you can use (~~~) instead and it will put your name in there ;) -therearenospoons 22:04, 26 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Stargate Atlantis 3x04

[edit]

RE: "rp - prev. has no source & author info + cap already at Sateda article." Just for the record, there is a source and author, if you would read the Rationale. Furthermore, my screenshot was there first with a post tag of 00:56, 5 August 2006 and yours was 07:08, 5 August 2006. On top of that, you broke the established Licensing Standard convention. Your also not supposed to insert screenshots on the individual episode pages. Insertion into the main article, automatically causes the image to be inserted into the individual episode template. This page clearly shows that my image was there before yours, so your reasoning is not justified by saying that it was "already at Sateda article." I'm reverting the change. -therearenospoons 19:47, 5 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Image

[edit]

I recognise no policy + Your image had no source. Matthew Fenton (contribs) 19:49, 5 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

PS: Mine is superior to yours in that it is smaller and shows a key moment in the episode. (PSS: Please do not be offended i changed your image ;-)) Matthew Fenton (contribs) 19:54, 5 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
PSSS: It still does not establish a source. Matthew Fenton (contribs) 19:56, 5 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

RTA: Rationale. If you read it, you would have seen it. -therearenospoons 19:55, 5 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

RE: PS: If you think so then why didn't you state it instead of stating some blatant lie about it not being there. Say what you mean, and not do what you do not say. Lies have no basis. RE: PSSS: I disagree. It couldn't be anymore clearer. If you look at all the Stargate SG-1 screenshots, you will see that none go out and state that. The fact that SG-1 is a Featured List article proves that it is necessary and sufficient. All Stargate Atlantis episodes as well as Stargate SG-1 episode screenshots have the same exact licensing except with appropriate references to their article. For you to go out and change it, you are changing the established convention, therefore making the entire article inconsistent. -therearenospoons 20:01, 5 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Look at Satedas history, there was no image there when i edited. Matthew Fenton (contribs) 20:02, 5 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah? What is this then? and this: http://img403.imageshack.us/img403/5026/proofll9.jpg -therearenospoons 20:07, 5 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

That is the SGA intro image, you must not have much idea on how wiki works. When you edit "List of.." etc, the image doesnt automaticly get placed in the episode article. Matthew Fenton (contribs) 20:09, 5 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Meh, my bad there about the proof. I've been editing articles for several years now. I did the last half of Season 2, and never once did I have to go into the individual article to change the image. Do the next episode, but do it from the List of Stargate Atlantis episodes and you will see. Ask anyone of the other editors who have uploaded Stargate screenshots and you will see their response. It does not make sense to have to edit in two places, and that is why there is an episode template.

If you wish to change it for that reason, change it, but state that you believe it "shows a key moment in the episode" and not some for "has no source & author info + cap already at Sateda article." I'm fine with that as long as it's truthful :) but don't go trying to give others a bad name by not checking the histories :( -therearenospoons 20:13, 5 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Also look here as an example. You do not see my name in the edit history anywhere, but you do see the screenshot. How did it appear? It can only appear from pulling from the List of Stargate Atlantis episodes. I rest my case. -therearenospoons 20:15, 5 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

That page was started after the episode aired, the screenshot was already here. It was created with the screenshot. Matthew Fenton (contribs) 20:19, 5 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
PS: Look at edits as well, notice how image names are hardcoded? Matthew Fenton (contribs) 20:21, 5 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I still stand by the episode template pulling from the List of...The only reason why it did not do it now, is because it already has the episode title in there. I'm not going to waste your time or my time any longer trying to find that it pulls from the List of...automatically. If you want to test it, remove the image from a future episode. Just leave it blank. Then go to the List of...and add your new image (replacing the title). Then go back to the episode, and it would have appeared. I have seen this many times already, so I'm not going to have to try and prove it. So with that in mind, have a good weekend :) -therearenospoons 20:47, 5 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The Descent Group Photo

[edit]

In this photo you uploaded http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:The_Descent_group_photo.jpg

it seems as if the photo was taken from a pirated version (telesync, cam) of the movie. I'm wondering if this is allowed on Wikipedia, especially since it breaches copyrights. Thanks.--John Cho 00:40, 6 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Sateda (Stargate Atlantis).jpg)

[edit]
Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Sateda (Stargate Atlantis).jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image can be used under a fair use license. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BigDT 11:53, 23 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Image:April Matson (Kyle XY).jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:April Matson (Kyle XY).jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

 1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add ((Replaceable fair use disputed)), without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
 2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Yamla 22:47, 14 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Stargate Atlantis Season 2 Title.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Stargate Atlantis Season 2 Title.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box.
