No, you didn't miss the update, because it hasn't been posted yet! At least, it's not showing up on my PC.
Victuallers said he would do it and I know he posted the hooks to the update page, but the update is not yet showing up on the mainpage. Gatoclass (talk) 13:09, 27 March 2008 (UTC)
Yes, I saw your notification at WP:Rivers. I looked it over, and have a few thoughts about structure, but need to mull it over a little more. Also, some thoughts about the coord stuff, which is more general than this article, but I may bring up anyway. -Pete (talk) 17:16, 27 March 2008 (UTC)
I too am pretty sure that the dam was built in the 1950s and it may say so in the pdf documents about the NRHP survey. Dincher (talk) 03:34, 28 March 2008 (UTC)

I guess we could add the bits about the sizes of the park and some about the airport, but I don't think it is a pressing need. Dincher (talk) 02:25, 2 April 2008 (UTC)
You are more than welcome for adding you to the PR of Black Mo and also most deserving. You do a good job of polishing the articles that we've worked on. List of municipalities in Sullivan County, Pennsylvania is missing from here. Not sure how to add it. Does the Black Mo notice belong under announcements or wikiproject requests? Once I know I'll do it. I guess it could go under open tasks at the Protected area page. Dincher (talk) 00:58, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
Hello! You had peer reviewed Bibliography of Edgar Allan Poe recently and made some great suggestions. I'm having trouble, however, figuring out how to properly cite the web references, including access dates. I've tried it a few times but keep messing up formatting. Could you lend a hand on a couple and I'll just follow your lead? --Midnightdreary (talk) 13:45, 28 March 2008 (UTC)

You might wonder why I've been reading White Deer Hole Creek. It's because I've been using Larrys Creek as a model for Johnson Creek (Willamette River), which I've been pushing from stub class to something more complete. The two creeks are remarkably similar in length but remarkably dissimilar in other ways. Johnson Creek, though making something of a comeback, is urban and has been abused for many decades. I had no clear idea of how to do a creek when I started, but I learned a lot by imitating what I saw on the Larrys Creek page. That led me to White Deer Hole Creek, also pretty much your doing, also FA, and also of similar length. Excellent models, for which I say thanks. Finetooth (talk) 17:28, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
Thanks, that's a lot of Licking Creeks! or lickin' cricks. Dincher (talk) 00:51, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
R, I have completed following your suggestions at this article's peer review. I believe that you'll be pleased with what I was able to accomplish. Could you please take a look at it and let me know what you think? Again, thanks for your input; as I stated on the peer review, I think that your constructive feedback has really made a difference and helped to substantially improve the article. --Figureskatingfan (talk) 21:37, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
Hi. While this is still going on, I've just made my final touch-ups on the list for a little known French/Canadian children's cartoon called The Bellflower Bunnies. I think I am the only Wikipedian who knows so much, so far, about the show and its original book series material.
I'm also willing to submit this as an FLC in a few days. Tell me what you think of the page, and I'll address concerns soon. --Slgrandson (How's my egg-throwing coleslaw?) 02:35, 27 March 2008 (UTC)
Hi. I noticed that you actively help out in copy edits in addition to writing exciting articles of your own. I have this article in FAC currently. The biggest issue I face is with prose. Can you please help polish the prose in this article if you have the time. Thanks Dineshkannambadi (talk) 02:10, 30 March 2008 (UTC)

Hi I looked at the Pennsylvania source for the photo you asked me about. I have to say I don't know if it is appropriate to use that photo or not, it's not entirely clear to me. Facts and arguments to consider include: Not all NRHP photos, even ones on the U.S. National Park Service website, are public domain. Those that are labelled as NPS owned, or that are labelled as haven been taken by a NPS staff person who visited the site, are clearly works of the Federal government and in the public domain. However, they also use photos labelled clearly as courtesy of some organization that owns the photo. Or the photograph is a new photo taken by a private consultant, or by a state employee, or otherwise. This photo is in the last category. The NPS website has a statement that NOT all photos are in the public domain. I am not successful right now in finding the main NPS.Gov copyright statement that I recall, but this one relating to the HABS program copyright info related to HABS pics includes this statement: "Materials created or published by the U.S. Government in collaboration with a non-U.S. Governmental individual or agency may or may not be in the public domain. Materials fitting this category may require additional background research." Photos are not accepted into HABS unless they are all fully released into the public domain, but photos can be used to support NRHP applications without them being released.
Some other Pennsylvania examples might help:

at position 1 (help) and photoset here: "Accompanying 3 photos, exterior, from 1972 and 1974." (PDF). (32 KB). In that photoset, the first pic is identified as credit to a specific person possibly a reporter, with negative owned by a newspaper, and I believe that is NOT public domain. If it had been credit to Charles W. Snell or James W. Sheire, who were with the NPS, then it would have been public domain. Other 2 photos in that set are labelled NPS owned, hence public domain. In your case, the photo credit is not entirely clear. I would tend to believe the photos were taken by John Milner Associates, the "Local survey organization" on the Pennsylvania Historic Resource Survey Form. I assume they are be private consultants. Copyright of the photos could still belong to them, or it could belong to Pennsylvania, neither of which would put them into the public domain. Just submitting the photos as part of backup to the National Park Service, which even if you assume they did do that, does not put them into the public domain. So, bottomline, I do not see that these are clearly public domain, and hence I personally might not choose to use them. Certainly one could use them with little likelihood of anyone complaining though. It certainly also could be the case that Pennsylvania owns them and would freely give over use under GFDL, if asked, for all of their photographs, but I don't believe that anyone from WP:NRHP has yet approached any state department of archives and history for such permissions.
I am not a lawyer. Hope this helps though. doncram (talk) 06:41, 31 March 2008 (UTC)

Hey, I just want to say that I am new to the whole adding articles thing. I am still getting used to to the talk feature so forgive me if I do not comment to the deletion discussion appropriately. I just want to point out that, regarding the article about Lucas Carpenter I have been editing, there is not a lot of information on the artist and therefore can not be as descriptive as other artists. He is an up and coming artist who has yet to be signed. He also does not have an official website and uses Myspace as a makeshift site. The information for this article was taken from that, hence the reference. I have been following the artist since 2000 and since he is getting popular and just completed his first cross country tour, I felt it was a good time to try to help him get his name out there. If there is anyway you could maybe offer me some ideas or pointers in anyway to keep this from getting deleted I would appreciate it. I am editing it right now and I think I made enough changes to satisfy originality. Ndrammissi (talk) 22:08 31 March 2008 (UTC)

The Black Mo plans sound good to me. I will be taking a wikibreak today. Checking in here and there but not doing much. I am looking forward to the changes. Dincher (talk) 15:47, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
Well I couldn't stay away. I added some about Mid-State Regional Airport and the Keystone Opportunity Zone which could be articles, remain as red links or get de-linked. I have looked and looked for evidence that the airport was built by the CCC and haven't found it, but I am pretty sure it was. The CCC did build an airstrip at Cherry Springs State Park. I am finished with the article for now if you want to work on it. Have a good one. Dincher (talk) 23:57, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
I am pretty relieved that Bok finally made GA. I don't know if I will go for FA or not. Things are looking good at Black Mo aren't they and it's just a matter of time for Larrys list. Dincher (talk) 21:52, 5 April 2008 (UTC)

Thank you for your peer review, which is being considered. Some of the points you have raised have been addressed, or are in the process of being addressed. However, there are a couple of issues that I wish to clarify. I believe that there is no need to wikilink all names of the locomotives to their counterpart in Arthurian legend, as this has already been done on the List of King Arthur class locomotives page. Also connected with this, Sir Lamiel is only listed in Thomas Malory's book Le Morte d'Arthur, as Sir Lamiel of Cardiff. Other than that, very little is known.
I hope this clarifies a couple of issues, and I hope you enjoyed the article. Thank you. --Bulleid Pacific (talk) 21:39, 2 April 2008 (UTC)

Hi, I was reading though your FLC, which brought me to read the article about Larrys Creek and White Deer Hole Creek. Hello Ruhrfisch. It might be time for a decision about this article that you left a report about at COIN. This is not a guy who has an academic rank like full professor, so it's hard to locate him in that way. I believe that an AfD nomination should be considered, since actual reliable sources that write about him are thin. I don't believe he is a Fellow of the IEEE or any of those kind of big organizations. If you still feel like going forward with an AfD, I might be able to help collect some data. Take a look at Category:SETI and see if you think his achievements will match what is found in that group. Otherwise, the article ought to be stubbified. Most of the material written about him does appear to be self-published, though the self-published material is written in an engaging way. Let me know how you would like to proceed. EdJohnston (talk) 03:38, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
Hey, I've made tons of changes to the page Passions and although I know more work needs to be done, I think I'd appreciate another review if you have the time to at least prioritize what's left to do, I'd really like to try to get this to Good Article status. If you do go over it, adding fact tags to things you think need to be sourced would be very helpful too, since sometimes it's hard to figure out what should be when you are so familiar with the subject. Thank you. -- Dougie WII (talk) 08:39, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
Not fantastically brilliant at these things but I'd be grateful if you'd close the PR. I have a few things to work on and will then go to FAC. Cheers! --Dweller (talk) 11:45, 7 April 2008 (UTC)

Hi, Ruhrfisch, I have a question for you. I saw that you're listed at Wikipedia:Peer review/volunteers under "Geography", but is my impression (from what you and your fellow volunteers have stated) correct in that Geography is only for places (countries, cities, towns, lands, buildings, bodies of water, etc, etc) and cannot include people? I ask because my newest endeavor, Bob Marshall (wilderness activist), was recently listed as a GA under the Geography heading -- "Geography and places good articles", to be exact. So, according to PR standards, was I correct to add it to the "Geography" category? It seems kind of out of place next to Tel Aviv and Campus of Texas A&M University; I'm also afraid it won't garner any attention. Feedback would be much appreciated! María (habla conmigo) 21:12, 9 April 2008 (UTC)

--BencherliteTalk 10:13, 10 April 2008 (UTC)
Actually there is no cause for that tag. A couple of editors who opposed the article in FAC are just trying to kick up some dust. The word feudatory and Vassal are equally applicapble, though the former is more used by historians, because of the feudal nature of ancient Indian society. The word Gangas is not plural, just refers to the Western Ganga Dynasty, so the singularity of feudatory is ok.Dineshkannambadi (talk) 01:40, 11 April 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the comments on this article. I've started working on what you suggested, but I had a couple of questions. You commented on the two pictures of the Bagpiper statue, but I only see one, did I miss one? Also you mentioned "Why not just a section called Fountains, then make a subarticle on just the fountains if you want." Do you mean just cut the sub-section headings off, or spin this material into another article then briefly talk about the fountains with a Main:Fountains of Berne at the header? Thanks (as always) for doing the archiving. Are you back up to 14 days, or are you still archiving some reviews sooner?
The latest archive only brought things down to 1.8 MB, and we can't keep walking on a knife edge like this, so I've trimmed some of the template code to save another 200KB. This is really a bug in the new mediawiki preprocessor, but there is no sign of it being fixed, so we have to live with it.
It is also partly my fault for the design of the automated SAPR notices, which are expensive in terms of space because they transclude the "onlyinclude" sections of the entire months SAPRs twice per article. I did a test, and removing these saves another 250KB. Unfortunately, I can't think of another way to do it without inconveniencing you in your valuable work. I will see if Carl has any ideas. Thanks again for the tips. I love maps and certain kinds of graphs like Minard's of Napoleon's very bad no good trip to Moscow and back:Image:Minard.png. Your method sounds complicated, though not more so than necessary. I will have to give it a try. I like learning how to do new things. By the way, your suggestions on Johnson Creek have produced some interesting results. I had not given any particular thought to the political border crossings, for example, but now see that the creek meanders back and forth between counties a total of eight times. Also, it is not true that the creek crosses six political boundaries but merely five. My sources incorrectly counted a city, Happy Valley, that's in the watershed but not touched by the creek. I made the change that you suggested. Good idea. I disagreed with I think five of Awadewit's comments. I will work on rewording the cabin and trail sections to make them less like a brochure, but I feel strongly about keeping all the details. I feel like this article could become more about the history, geology, etc., of the park and less about what is actually at the park and what the visitors can actually see. Thanks about the gas. Walked again today. I am kind of sore. Dincher (talk) 20:46, 22 April 2008 (UTC)

I like the ideas regarding the 21 must see parks. Taking a wiki break today. Dincher (talk) 20:11, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
We did it! Thanks for all the help in getting Black Mo up to FA! Dincher (talk) 23:22, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
Well one week of walking to school and I am pretty much worn out. I agree. I think we should work on Worlds End Next. Thanks for the list of the must see parks. I will stash it at the groundhog. Still taking a bit of a wikibreak I have to go to a pee wee softball game tonight. I'll be amazed if the ball makes it out of the infield. Have a good one! Your friend, Dincher (talk) 20:55, 25 April 2008 (UTC)
Pennsylvania State Parks Groundhog Award, with Featured Article Star | ||
This award is given with respect and admiration to Ruhrfisch for his continuing devotion to Pennsylvania state park articles and on the occasion of his sixth Featured Article for Black Moshannon State Park. Dincher (talk) 16:35, 27 April 2008 (UTC) |
Thanks for the advice - I've made a start on it, and will continue to work on it in the next few days. — Tivedshambo (t/c) 20:51, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
Is it possible to know which articles someone else is peer reviewing? I'm asking because today I reviewed National Museum of Beirut, and when I posted my review I saw that you had reviewed it too. I don't mind; I'm sure the main author was pleased, and in a way it's an entirely good thing. On the other hand, I didn't lighten your load at all, and that was part of my intention. Would it be good to coordinate the reviews? I could have done the Pokemon article, and that would be one more off the short list. Finetooth (talk) 02:56, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
So where are we on that map? I like the idea of using the colored dots instead, could we link them like we did for the state parks map? IvoShandor (talk) 12:17, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
Very cute. Have you had it long? I've not noticed it. --Dweller (talk) 18:43, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
Hey Ruhr, sorry, we e/c'd again and I think you'll read this after you've done the review... perhaps we should have a rule like GA which says we've "taken" an article for review? The Rambling Man (talk) 19:41, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
Hi Ruhrfisch. Thanks for your comments and tips. They are very helpful and I will try to incorporate them in the article. Maybe you can once again peer-review them after i have added the changes suggested by you. Thanks again.--Anish (talk) 18:57, 25 April 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for your comments. I thought putting this article up for peer review might help this article, but clearly some people don't agree....at least I tried. Thanks again. Paul75 (talk) 00:51, 26 April 2008 (UTC)
Your advice was key in making this dude Image:Johnson Creek watershed map.png, and I thank you. I learned a lot in the process. The colors on my course map now look garish, and I'm planning to change them. I got the color numbers for the new map from Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Maps, having seen mention of the project page on Kmuser's talk page and the colors themselves on your maps. Oh, hey, this is fun. If you have any thoughts about improving the new map, please let me know. (But no hurry; I am as usual up to my ears in stuff.) Finetooth (talk) 03:54, 26 April 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for your review. In light of of the review I have made some changes to the article. All the doubts you raised were without a doubt helpful in improving the article, however I was unable 'to get an image' and get the 'name of the person who filed the petition aginst Raj's emarks on Chatth'. Can you please have a look at the article again. Thanks. KnowledgeHegemonyPart2 (talk) 13:22, 26 April 2008 (UTC)
Would it be possible for you to help out and resolve this AfD. I'm not sure about the process and it seems an admin needs to resolve it. IMHO, there seems to be a consensus. Thanks. Truthanado (talk) 15:27, 26 April 2008 (UTC)
Well I started working on expanding Worlds End State Park. We don't have to get to this right away, but we can if you want. I am not sure if you want to work on the bridge first. So this leads me to my question. Did the Susquehannock inhabit the area? I would bet that they did? This will enable us to move some of the history from Black Mo to here. I already moved the general CCC and Lumber historys but will wait to move the general Native American history until I hear back from you. As usual many of our references are inaccessible from here at "work". Dincher (talk) 23:21, 26 April 2008 (UTC)
The groundhogs have been released. I am sure that they are in safe hands. Added the Native American section to Worlds End. Dincher (talk) 19:13, 27 April 2008 (UTC)
Thank you for taking the time to review the Dredg article. I will begin work on correcting the issues you brought up. I do have a quick question for you. There is a good bit known about a few of their early recordings, such as Conscious and Orph; however, there are few sources that Wikipedia would constitute as "reliable" based off Wikipedia:RS, as little was written about them at the time and the writing since has focused on newer material. I do not know if it is possible, but how do you inform people of the information that is known with a lack of "reliable sources"? --Ars Sycro (talk) 04:53, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
Hey Ruhrfisch, can you use your admin tools to move Ouachita Parish back to the proper name convention Ouachita Parish, Louisiana? Thanks. VerruckteDan (talk) 00:28, 29 April 2008 (UTC)
Thank you very much for your excellent suggestions; I will try to address them one-by-one as I complete the improvements. I appreciate the time and care you took to read through the article. -- Avi (talk) 03:44, 29 April 2008 (UTC)
Here is a page with an extremely long title. Judging by the revision history, it looks like it was copied from somewhere. However, a google search didn't reveal any matches. I don't know what to do about it. Maybe you do! --Cryptic C62 · Talk 00:53, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
Hello. Thanks for the feedback. I have replied to some of your comments, and fixed a few things. Please strike as necessary. Thanks! — Wackymacs (talk) 08:29, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
Hi, Thanks for the work you've done on the Kersal Moor article, most of which I wrote. I'm sorry I've not replied earlier but I wasn't familiar with the process and hadn't realised you'd done it. I'll try and address the points you've mentioned as soon as I can. Richerman (talk) 10:29, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
I direct your attention to an article I posted today (been working on it for a week) in order to make sure Everglades is complete, whenever it will be... Is this fun, or what? --Moni3 (talk) 18:36, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
I'm afraid I tried to follow the procedure, but didn't get the intended result. Does it now show as complete? Howard C. Berkowitz (talk) 20:12, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
You left some good comments on Zirconium's peer review, but because of my then-hectic schedule, it was closed before I had a chance to address them all. I've since done some work on it regarding the source material, so would you mind taking a second look? I'd like to try to improve it as much as possible before FAN. I'm in no hurry. --Cryptic C62 · Talk 21:31, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
