Hi Mila, I had a quick go through this new one. I will probably have to go through it again later today. Invertzoo (talk) 14:09, 29 May 2011 (UTC)
On 29 May 2011, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article 2011 CDC warning about zombie apocalypse, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that on May 18, 2011, the United States Government posted a blog and a couple of tweets to raise public awareness about incoming zombie apocalypse, natural disasters and pandemics? You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page. |

The bridge image made it pretty far into the competition. Best of luck to you. I am too conflicted on which one is the best to vote yet. You are all so cocky down there in SF. How about next year you put one up of Seattle so I have more reason to vote. ;) Cptnono (talk) 02:42, 31 May 2011 (UTC)

Mbz, I hope you do not take offence to this comment. If you do, please do not hesitate to remove it. I wanted to let you know that you do not need to be so self-depreciating. You're constantly beating yourself up, and seem to be of the impression the value of your contributions to Wikipedia is in some way less than that of other editors. This comment and your recent e-mails spring to mind as recent examples, but I'm sure there are more. It makes you appear over-sensitive, and surely is not good for your self-esteem. More suspicious editors might even think that you are being manipulative, although I don't think that that is the case. Please, be a little more confident. Wikipedia is a hobby, and you're a volunteer. You should enjoy being here! AGK [•] 22:52, 7 June 2011 (UTC)
On 10 June 2011, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Jewish response to The Forty Days of Musa Dagh, which you created or substantially expanded. Dear Ms. / Mrs. Zinkova:
I am glad to inform you that I have decided to use a picture of yours in order to illustrate my Website and other commercial projects.
The picture was taken from Wikimedia Commons, and as I understand it, you uploaded that picture in that server with the intent to share it with others.
Of course, due credit is given and a link to your license is included.
The resulting Webpage is the following:
https://sites.google.com/site/aldoloup/articulos/no-todo-lo-que-brilla-es-ovni
A Portuguese-language version will follow.
I want to thank you for the opportunity to use that picture. However, if you feel in any way that my use of your picture does not fit into your original intentions, please let me know it as soon as possible.
Sincerely yours,
Aldo Loup.

I looked at the nomination again, and due to the technicality that Alvesgaspar pointed out, the result stands. It does look like people like Edit 2, so you should consider putting it in the article to replace the original image. You might also consider re-nominating the image in a month or so. Wondered if you could make a picture of a drop of water on a DWR-coated surface. Preferably a pretty small drop (they get almost spherical). The point is to show the hydrophobicity, but it would also be a very pretty image as well. The only one I could find in Commons is a gray jacket with some water on it. you can sorta see it is beading...but I am really looking for much more of a blowup. Like an image of the single drop. Like this, but from the SIDE. [1] Knowuttimean? Can't believe we lack such an image of what is a relatively easy science trick (spray some scotchgardand put a drop of water on it. Really could go in a few different articles. TCO (talk) 19:24, 21 June 2011 (UTC)
A tag has been placed on File:Water droplet at DWR-coated surface1.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion," which appears inside of the speedy deletion (((db-...))
) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. I saw you're around, so I thought I'd say Hi. Hope you're enjoying your wikibreak, I haven't taken one in a while so I can't say I know what it's like. It's funny, I've taken a one week break from editing once in the last 16 months and other than that I haven't taken a break of more than 3 days. So I decided to stay away from DYK for a while. I realized I was just writing a bunch of short little articles. So I figured I'd go back through some of my old DYK's and try to get them up to Good Article quality (easier said than done). Anyway, I hope you're spending a lot of time at the beach and enjoying your summer. Qrsdogg (talk) 00:52, 24 June 2011 (UTC)

For fluorine, I'm working on a flow diagram (more of a Powerpoint drawing) showing the economics of the element from mineral to gas to compounds. I just need to do the research first. And buckle down.TCO (talk) 05:11, 25 June 2011 (UTC)
Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Jason, a Jewish archer on the prow of a pirate ship .jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under Non-Free content criteria but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a Non-Free rationale.
If you have uploaded other Non-Free media, consider checking that you have specified the Non-Free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 11:25, 25 June 2011 (UTC)

I have just noticed yet another false accusation made against you by Ohiostandard. The user claims that you were the one, who "repeatedly posted POV tag", when you were the one who removed POV tag , which was later added back by User:Roscelese, a buddy of Ohiostandard. What is interesting that User:Roscelese who added the tag after you removed it failed to put it back after her buddy Ohiostandard removed it. They make false accusations about you over and over again, and sometimes get lost in their own false accusations.Isn't this funny? Broccolo (talk) 21:07, 29 June 2011 (UTC)

TCO (talk) 23:49, 4 July 2011 (UTC)
Hi mila,
I had Iceberg in my watchlist and noticed that you added your iceberg FP to it. A relevant addition and an improvement (it was there previously at some stage, wasn't it?). However, as there was also a Cape York iceberg photo just underneath it in the article I took the liberty of replacing your FP with my Upernavik iceberg FP. I admit is does not have the same technical quality as yours, but I think that iceberg fills the frame better, to illustrate "one iceberg", and due to the larger hole it is IMO more eyecatching. If there is some point I was missing feel free to revert the replacement, as I have no strong feelings about it, it just felt like it added a little more visual diversity to the article.
Best wishes,
--Slaunger (talk) 23:39, 6 July 2011 (UTC)

Greetings, Please allow me to introduce myself. I am a biologist who lives and works in Belize with a non profit organization dedicated to the conservation and protection of the rainforest in Belize. (www.bfreebz.org) I am currently working on a manuscript that highlights the Biodiversity of the Bladen Nature Reserve in Belize. I am adding a section on the more interesting and notable sights in Belize and would like permission to use your image of the giant anteater while searching Google images.
The book will be used to educate the local kids about the amazing biodiversity of Belize and we are securing funding to distribute books to the schools.
Would you be willing to allow me to use your image? If so, of course proper photo credit will be given.
Also, if you indeed do allow me to use the image, would it be possible to send a higher res image? My internet server can handle images up to about 3 MB.
My email address is mesodon@earthlink.net
Thanks for your consideration,

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Arabic Mein Kampf is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.
The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Arabic Mein Kampf until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on good quality evidence, and our policies and guidelines.
Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article. Roscelese (talk ⋅ contribs) 02:06, 18 July 2011 (UTC)
Hey Mbz, hope everything's just fine with you. I just moved, so my life is pretty jumbled right now. But, anyway, I just wanted to mention that trouting someone that you're involved in a dispute with is generally frowned upon. It's supposed to just be used for "subtle adjustments to clue levels", and tends to just be used on people that you have a collegial relationship with. Now, I know what it is like to have an article nominated for deletion, in fact, an AfD of one of my articles was the first time I really blew my top on-wiki. Even today, I saw a bizarre (not the Mein Kampf one) AfD that really made me shake my head. But sometimes, you just have to break the wrist and walk away :) Qrsdogg (talk) 04:41, 18 July 2011 (UTC)

Well, I doubled its size and found some new refs, but it looks like a 5x expansion will be out of reach. How hard was it for you to find them? The sources I found said they're usually pretty rare (or at least they were when the books I saw were written). Qrsdogg (talk) 15:10, 22 July 2011 (UTC)

Users are at liberty to remove material from their talk page once they have read it. This restoration of material which was properly deleted isn't going to get your point over any more forcefully than the first time you posted it. Personally, I prefer never to remove material from my talk page even if I disagree with it; I think it forms a useful chronological record of discussions. But if Roscelese prefers to remove your post/s please don't revert that. Kim Dent-Brown (Talk) 15:53, 22 July 2011 (UTC)

I just want to express my sincere gratitude to Mbz1 for making these fantastic photos of spectacular natural optical phenomena publicly available. I used her photos in two of my research papers published in professional scientific journals:
Mishchenko, M. I., 2009: Gustav Mie and the fundamental concept of electromagnetic scattering by particles: a perspective, J. Quant. Spectrosc. Radiat. Transfer 110, 1210-1222
Mishchenko, M. I., and L. D. Travis, 2008: Gustav Mie and the evolving discipline of electromagnetic scattering by particles, Bull. Amer. Meteorol. Soc. 89, 1853-1861
In both cases Mbz1's photos served as vivid illustrations of profound physical laws controlling the interaction of light with small cloud particles suspended in air. I hope Mbz1 will continue to make such photos and post them on the web -- this is a great service to both professional scientists, amateur researchers, and all admirers of nature.
