Hi Alternativity,
Thanks for reviewing Philippine Native Plants Conservation Society. I really just created the article because I saw the Society red linked in the article you created about Leonard Co. The article about him was quite interesting and well done. I hope I did not step on your toes by starting to create the article about the Society. Please feel free to expand the society article if you are so inclined. I have done a bit of research on the society and will be adding a few more references in the coming days. I do enjoy working in collaboration with others! ciao!!! Carriearchdale (talk) 08:46, 16 June 2014 (UTC)

Since you seem to be the most active person on the Philippines noticeboard, would you possibly be able to find any sourcing on this individual? I cleaned it up from being an obit, but most of the sourcing that is needed comes from the early 90s, which means I suspect it isn't available easily online for someone in North America. The original article creator linked to his official bio, which makes the claim he was the first speaker of the regional assembly. I can't verify that through other sources. It also claims he died, so any public obituary would likely be a good source. If you could be of any assistance, it would be much appreciated. TonyBallioni (talk) 14:54, 1 September 2017 (UTC)
Hi @Alternativity:..ǃ Since I learn that you has vast knowledge on Philippines matters, I really need your advice in Revisiting and questioning the degree of Indianisation in the Philippines. This is because other than Pre-Hispanic Philippines-related articles, several Hindu-Buddhist-related articles such as Greater India was affected by the edits of our notorious sockmaster JournalmanManila, that many of his edits are skewed POV pushing fiercely promoting the thesis of "Strong Hindu-Buddhist Culture of Ancient Philippines" in some of those articles. I need to address this issue fairly to put things in perspective. Really appreciate your opinion, thank you. Cheers..ǃ Gunkarta talk 16:16, 14 September 2017 (UTC)
Posted a long comment there. :D Hope it helps. On a peripherally related note, please note that I've re-nominated Kingdom of Tondo to be renamed, since the previously suggested name was deemed to vague. Hello Alternativity!
I've visited the Wikipedia page about Singkil and apparently the page tried to link Ramayana to the Maranao epic Darangen. Since you're the expert on pre-colonial matters, I might need your suggestions regarding possible source materials about the connection between that specific Hindu epic to the Maranao folk epic. The only material I have right now is the "Darangen: The Epic of the Maranaws" written by Mamitua Saber which compared Darangen to both Ramayana and the Greek epics.
Thanks in advance for the help! Stricnina (talk) 22:24, 21 November 2017 (UTC)

Oh, what a pleasant surprise. Hehe thanks Citrivescence, I do love barnstars. :D I remain concerned about that last section with problems, though. I actually feel that the article needs to have about two or three times more content, with headings for subject themes (Satire would be a sub-section, Colonial experience - reference Dolphy's "translation" gag - would be another, gender issues yet another) and unique cultural practices (physical comedy, translation comedy, etc). Lotsa work still left to do, and I don't have many sources. :S Do you have access to any good Filipino comedy books? :D - Alternativity (talk) 02:18, 20 October 2018 (UTC)
Unfortunately, I don't. I do have access to Jstor which is how I found the academic article I cited, but I don't have access to a library with Filipino comedy books. Sorry, wish I could be more helpful. Thank you, again! :) --Citrivescence (talk) 02:31, 20 October 2018 (UTC)

You should check out the religion section of your article in Ma-i since I edited the context because Henry Otley Beyer found a Buddhist Icon in Palawan, just Southwest of Mindoro (Ma-i). Unfortunately the icon was destroyed in World War 2, however, pictures of it survive. I think people who dismiss the Buddhism came to Mindoro ignore the fact that this Buddhist icon was excavated in an island near Mindoro in relatively modern times.

Oh thanks for critique. I don't think my source is just exclusive to Palawan though, the Churchill text also mention Buddhist icons in Batangas which is nearer Laguna de Bai.

Five pop culture article references from major Philippine publications, and one from a Philippine music industry website added, having been found on the quickest of searches. A great deal more has been written about the band, even if one does not include articles focusing on the vocalist. US Banknote Contest | ||
---|---|---|
November-December 2019 | ||
There are an estimated 30,000 different varieties of United States banknotes, yet only a fraction of these are represented on Wikimedia Commons in the form of 2D scans. Additionally, Colonial America, the Confederate States, the Republic of Texas, multiple states and territories, communities, and private companies have issued banknotes that are in the public domain today but are absent from Commons. In the months of November and December, WikiProject Numismatics will be running a cross-wiki upload-a-thon, the 2019 US Banknote Contest. The goal of the contest is to increase the number of US banknote images available to content creators on all Wikimedia projects. Participants will claim points for uploading and importing 2D scans of US banknotes, and at the end of the contest all will receive awards. Whether you want to claim the Gold Wiki or you just want to have fun, all are invited to participate. If you do not want to receive invitations to future US Banknote Contests, follow the instructions here |
