Review of the Wiki page: "Hockey"

The wiki page of hockey is well organized as far as what the sub topics are and the order of them. There are things in the descriptions that could be changed in the way they are worded. The page gives a very simplistic view of the game and I believe it should have sub topics of each different variations of the sport. For example, there is a huge distinction between ice hockey and field hockey. The rules are completely different and also the manner in which the game is played in. Another improvement that would add to the wiki pages credibility is more current photos. The photos show the sport and different variations, but not with the culture involved in the sport specific to a country or region.

On the talk page of the article, many Wikipedians' have given their opinions on what the article should be changed to in order to improve it. One of the similarities that I noticed was that the pictures seemed to be slightly outdated. The difference that I noticed was that the article contains links to the different variations of the game instead of speaking of all of them on the general "hockey" page. Another comment that I noticed and was unaware of is the fact that the editors like to refer to dictionary definitions and even got into where the game originated. I found the article overall very interesting in the way it was laid out and how I would have set it up compared to the way it is currently.

"Blog Post" - October 15, 2018

The wiki article that I am choosing to do my paper on is hockey. This page gives a very broad overview of the sport and the different variations of it. My plan of action is to update the current photos on the page to more modern images. The history of the page has included the added variations of the game as well as information that has come readily available over the course of time. This page also could use a more directness to the way it is structured and possibly include how the culture of the game has changed.

"Article Drafting"

Would like to explore the cultural differences that Canada has in hockey opposed to the rest of the world. Also, the influential people of ice hockey and how it has lead to the popularity of the sport in other parts of the world. Players such as Wayne Gretzky, who is from Canada, and the impact that he had. Gretzky is known as "The Great One" and in hockey has had a positive influence on the game.

Would like to also expand upon the general overview of 'ice hockey' and the origin of where it started. My citation number 2 shows the origin of the game and how it is a Canadian sport that was created on the frozen ponds of the North.

Final Drafting of subtype - "pond hockey"

Pond hockey is a variation of the game of Ice Hockey that is played on an outdoor pond, an natural frozen body of water. It is a much more basic version of ice hockey, the difference between the two is that pond hockey does not as many rules in pond hockey. There are many nationwide tournaments that are hosted that many people travel to from around the world. Lastly, pond hockey has been introduced in films such as Mystery Alaska.
