It gives the article a very formal tone to call her by her surname, Rudolph, which makes me suspect that this is the name that she goes by, and not by her first name, Maya. If this is so, should this not be explained? --Vynbos (talk) 17:19, 18 February 2011 (UTC)
What the heck is this about? I found it on the bottom of the page:
> === Scandal === On February 2, 2009, Seth Rogen challenged Maya Rudolph to a cabbage-eating contest. Reportedly, an irate Rudolph replied with "Rogen can suck it."
Looks defamatory to me, and I can't find any source for it here or online.

If Rudolph's dad is Jewish, and her mom wasn't, I believe technically then she takes the religion of her mother. However, Maya Rudolph is listed in lots of categories which identify her as Jewish. Gilliamjf 04:04, 25 January 2006 (UTC)
In Judaism, it depends. Under Orthodox Judaism and Conservative Judaism, if your Mom is Jewish you are automatically Jewish. Under Reform Judaism, if either parent is Jewish you are automatically Jewish. --Epeefleche 13:55, 30 August 2006 (UTC)
No such thing as "automatically jewish". They can CLAIM you're jewish, but who cares what someone else thinks? It only really becomes a point when someone claims to be jewish, but they really aren't, because their mother was not jewish.
That last comment is a bit extreme. While not necessarily automatic, with reformed Judaism if your dad is Jewish and your mom isn't, you can be Jewish if you want to (a situation that one of my closest friends has, she bat mitzvah'ed). The question would be does Maya Rudolph consider herself Jewish. If she does, she is even if the Orthodox community may not think she is. Phil 18:17, 23 January 2007 (UTC)
In almost every case in Wikipedia of a famous person who has one Jewish Parent, such as a Jewish father and a gentile mother (Sean Penn, Carrie Fisher), or a gentile father and a Jewish mother (Jack Black, Liev Schreiber) they are always noted as being Jewish, the inference being they are at least by ethnicity. I see no reason Maya Rudolph should be an exception (75.69.241.91 (talk) 23:43, 2 October 2009 (UTC))
ethnicity in first line It is appropriate to put ethnicity in the first line for people such as Rudolph under Wiki standards, inasmuch as this is of note in her case. She is for example listed in the Wiki list of Black Jews. Please revert. Tx. --Epeefleche 14:00, 30 August 2006 (UTC)
Image:Maya - SNL.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

I'm sorry but I don't think Minnie Ripperton's hit Lovin you, was a lullaby for Maya, considering the second lyric of the song goes "Makin' love with you is all I wanna do". The whole tone of the song is obviously about 2 adults in love with each other,it is in no way, shape or form a lullaby, unless Minnie Ripperton wanted to make love to her daughter, which I doubt. So I removed the unsourced bit about the song being a lullaby for Maya. --99.177.248.92 (talk) 00:11, 25 February 2011 (UTC)
Hate to pull a trick on you, Wikipedia, but obviously, this actress isn’t African American. WikiWorldOne (talk) 23:17, 31 May 2018 (UTC)
EITHER DO THE FOLLOWING ✔️ check if this person bio really is who you think he is
OR....
❌ take the category African American actresses off this actor WikiWorldOne (talk) 23:31, 31 May 2018 (UTC)
Claims about the article content were just made in the monologue of Saturday Night Live, and followed through on by an anon, so the article is semi-protected. -- Zanimum (talk) 04:48, 17 December 2023 (UTC)
