Wouldn't it be interesting to add some information on some chronological input on how the village as a 'sub-national' local administrative unit was used in context? I mean, prior to 1889, when the 1st Establishment of Municipal Mergers Act under the Meiji era was implemented, that like before 1869 (until the end of the Edo period), those villages were basically just hamlets or small settlements before establishing into proper municipal units (from 71,314 to 15,859) and what not. jlog3000 (talk) 18:26, 17 May 2023 (UTC)
