The American Vegan Society reported on 1/20/2018 in its monthly e-newsletter that "Over 120 VegFests in the United States are planned for 2018" and this article only lists a few of them.[1] The list of US-based VegFests could be dramatically expanded after vetting each of the claims to be scheduled in the USA for 2018.MaynardClark (talk) 02:29, 21 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Can we count something as a 'vegetarian festival' when the purpose of the festival is not per se to promote vegetarianism, but the organisation has made a conscious choice that visitors can only buy vegetarian food on the festival's terrain? This is a new phenomenon at dance music festivals such as Digital Festival in Amsterdam (since 3 years), Festival Milkshake in Amsterdam (since 2018) [1][2] and Psy-Fi in Leeuwarden (starting from 2019). I like that observation as much as I like that historical development. Maybe we can (or ought to) talk that out a little longer. I might be more likely to say yes, include the event here IF the event were to focus on vegetarian TOPICS and THEMES in the music (and thus feeding 'vegetarian ideas' to the minds of the audiences) and not merely to feed vegetarian food to the body. What about events that are vegetarian because of the nature of the events - not merely music festivals. For instance, we don't list all Adventist church services and events, although they may be vegetarian because of the nature of the event derived from their faith. We don't list everything that may be done in another religious or spiritual context that is entirely vegetarian, since the vegetarian diet is not the topical focus of the event. Shouldn't we split the article to vegetarian and vegan festivals? Or, if kept as one article, shouldn't it be renamed to List of vegetarian and vegan festivals? Marcocapelle (talk) 08:02, 4 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
