Purpose?

[edit]

What is the point of this article? Is it not just a copy-and-paste from List of lesbian periodicals? (EhJJ)TALK 02:36, 5 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I am planning to organize it differently, by individual year of publication, to make the cultural progression and trends more clear.Kootenayvolcano (talk) 02:55, 5 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

"Studs Magazine"?

[edit]

I noticed Studs Magazine was added and removed from this article. Do you consider Studs Magazine to be a lesbian periodical? (The magazine seems to be about drag kings.) --EarthFurst (talk) 22:57, 14 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

move list to timeline?

[edit]

Another thought, move article from "List of lesbian periodicals in the United States" to "Timeline of lesbian periodicals in the United States" (There are various timelines articles such as Timeline of the Big Bang) --EarthFurst (talk) 23:26, 14 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Reference verifiability

[edit]

References provided in an article need to be verifiable. This means that it is important to be able to access the verifying information. If the reference is incomplete, it is not verifiable.

I am deleting such references and the associated named references, but will place them here so that someone might be able to locate the references cited. If a reference here can be identified, it might be necessary to look at the page history to find all the places that I have deleted such abbreviated and unverifiable references.

Similarly, citations "...provide enough information to identify the source."

The references to "Holdings" link to the home page of the GLBT Historical Society or other libraries. This page does not contain information supporting the assertions citing it as a reference nor does it have a link to "Holdings" or other factual information required to support the citing assertions. The references do contain information, apparently about how to find supporting material in the GLBT Historical Society library and others. I am deleting those references, but, again, including them here, in case someone can make sense of them.

Format change

[edit]

I'm drafting a table version of this article--see my draft (it is for the US, I just named the page wrong lol). I think it'd give the article more flexibility/usefulness: you can sort by name, founding date, or disestablishment date. I also think it will help in standardizing the entries: frequency, notes ("with a focus on lesbians of color" or anything particular about the periodical), and ISSN columns for additional information beyond the name, dates, location and publishers. It's still very much a WIP but lemme know what y'all think. Woodsy lesfem (talk) 14:06, 3 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The table looks great! I say go for the change in format! Thanks for your work, Woodsy lesfemAnaSoc (talk) 00:11, 11 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with the change.Marketless (talk) 05:03, 13 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
