What is this sentence supposed to mean?
It doesn't seem to make any sense to me. -- Timwi 14:40 14 Jun 2003 (UTC)
This page states that the original name was 'Kwanon'. But list of company name etymologies states that it was 'Kannon', named after a Buddhist deity (or somesuch). So, which is it? grendel|khan 07:45, 2004 Aug 9 (UTC)
Removed a bunch of external link that were too specific (why would we link to tutorials on underwater photography, or the product page for a single line of cameras?) and just left the one link to the official homepage. The others didn't really add anything. grendel|khan 04:37, 2004 Sep 27 (UTC)
Hi, what's up with the backpack picture? :-) Seriously, that's quite a surprise on Canon Inc. page, plus it really does not bring any light on the subject... ClementSeveillac 22:18, 13 September 2005 (UTC)
I think Nikon cameras must be better, just look at how much better the Nikon wikipedia page is. Funkyj 16:24, 26 May 2006 (UTC)
Someone has requested that I post a reference to the paragraph that I removed. I generally don't cite something that isn't there, but placing the link to an appropriate article here, nottaproblemo!

This article seems lacking to me, especially considering how much is written about the company's products elsewhere in Wikipedia. Perhaps some inspiration could be found on this page of the Japanese Wikipedia...? Japanese article on Canon cameras It seems like there's some info there that would be relevant to the discussion of Canon's history and entry into the photography market (it's hard for me to tell based on Google's translation of it :) ). Perhaps someone flutent in Japanese can make use of that. Personally, I'd actually like to see the article expanded to talk about their entry into all the markets they're in now (i.e., consumer printers, cameras, etc.). A lot of company pages have histories and I'm rather surprised there isn't one for Canon. RobertM525 19:16, 20 October 2006 (UTC)
I also agree; there is very little information on the development of Canon 35 mm cameras, the strong competition against Nikon for the supremacy in that field and a lot of firsts (just for example, the Canon AE-1 is mentioned, but not the outstanding A-1 or its followers. Scarce mention of the development of the extensive lens line for those 35 mm cameras is also noted. amclaussen. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 192.100.180.20 (talk) 15:50, 10 May 2011 (UTC)
The article states that Canon was founded in 1937 but established in 1933. This seems like a contradiction. Greenshed 21:43, 12 November 2006 (UTC)

I am searching for Canon PowerShot S2 IS, and this link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canon_PowerShot_S2_IS apparently linked me to Canon Company.
This is quite odd... —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Emancipator (talk • contribs) 06:23, 6 December 2006 (UTC).
Is "Delighting You Always" only used in Japan? I don't know about the US, but here in the UK they use "You can". 86.132.138.168 15:26, 5 March 2007 (UTC)
For such a large and well known brand as Canon, it suprises me that it has such a small article? It would be good to see it improved--Matt von Furrie 03:16, 16 June 2007 (UTC)
Image:1934kwanon.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

I can't find any resources from this page to Canon's chip fabrication equipment. I don't feel qualified to create an article on it either, however I have first hand experiance with the equipment. If someone with the proper knowledge could add to this article? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.60.56.43 (talk) 22:44, 7 February 2008 (UTC)

Wikipedia newbie. I know Canon has a fairly unique VR product (as in, too big and bulky haha) in the works that is getting some press. Would be happy to add it to this page, hesitant to dive in for a mature page like Canon's without checking in first. Assume I would simply add to the "Products" section? Is it notable enough? http://www.stuff.tv/news/eyes-canons-handheld-vr-headset TotoroRules (talk) 00:43, 14 October 2015 (UTC)
Right at the beginning of the article, why are there furigana displayed above the company name (キヤノン)? They seem to be exactly the same as the name itself, which is already written in katakana. Are there companies where the name is written in kana, but nevertheless pronounced in an extraordinary way? --2001:16B8:177F:7200:453:C500:DA8:8588 (talk) 21:41, 18 May 2020 (UTC)

I was looking for the Canon AS400 PC, but I could not find it. On looking on their own website, they confirm that it was actually, the AS-100 16-bit personal computer. The Centre for Computer History says that it was based on the 8088 chip, and had both colour and monochrome versions. I will modify the article with citations.--ServeDotty (talk) 13:45, 9 March 2021 (UTC)
The statement that the Reflex Zoom 8 was "the world's first movie camera with a zoom lens" is false. Even Canon doesn't make this claim (see: Canon Camera Musuem). It also conflicts with the Wikipedia article on the Zoom lens.
The first use of a zoom lens in film dates back to the 1927 movie "It" (See: Cinema’s First Known Zoom Lens Shot...).
I am deleting the claim and reworking that sentence a little. --The Extremist (User, Talk) 08:46, 9 February 2023 (UTC)
