NPOV

[edit]

(Restored this section after someone deleted it)

This page is, like, dudes, just a *total* press release. I've NPOV-tagged it, and it should be cleaned up to be, well, less of a press release. --Mike 23:10, 17 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. The `Working with major IT employers' section is disgusting. "By encouraging your IT professionals to join BCS through our group scheme" doesn't sound like an encyclopedia should. -- Anon 10:32 25 November 2006

I need Help

[edit]

Need Help! hey I need help.

I am going for this course. I have been told that after three years of different courses (all through British Computer Society) I can go striaght to a Master programme at any UK university? is this ture?

can any one tell me that can I go to university Master programme after doing graduate professional diploma?

Uptake

[edit]

The article should note that, unlike other chartered proefssions in the UK (e.g. engineering, accountancy), achieving chartered status with the BCS is neither particularly common nor required for many IT jobs. The BCS has a reputation for being somewhat stuffy, and slow to respond to such developments as the rise of open-source software.

I agree.

BCS, The Chartered Institute for ITBritish Computer Society — We shouldn't include any organization's "tag line" in the article title. As noted in the lead, the organization "is still legally) known as the British Computer Society."--RossPatterson (talk) 17:35, 1 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • Yes, it's rather clumsy. Many organizations like to call themselves The something longwinded and impressive, but we have good examples of how to handle that in Wikipedia. For example, we have an article about the university that calls itself "Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey" entitled Rutgers University, which begins "Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey (usually referred to as Rutgers University or just Rutgers), is the largest institution for higher education in New Jersey." Something similar would work here. RossPatterson (talk) 00:34, 4 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
