Link to the Autistic Rights Movement using term "autism awareness"?[edit]
This bit under Activism should probably be reworded somehow:
"ASAN promotes autism awareness ..."
"Autism awareness" is normally the term used for the negative portrayals of autism put forth by groups favoring cures/normalization. Offhand examples: it's commonly used to describe Cure Autism Now's propaganda film for Autism Speaks and is written on the majority of the autism-is-a-puzzle logo merchandise.
I'm not certain what the best phrase to put in its place would be, though. The contradiction of linking that phrase to the Rights Movement makes the writer's intent unclear, and the sentence seems to summarize the paragraph above it rather than describe actual activism. --☥ Xyzzy Avatar ☥ 08:27, 3 January 2011 (UTC)
