This article could be improved by:
1. Relating more of the adaptations to the different evolutionary forces that have influenced them 2. Adding categories of morphological defenses 3. Including more sources that pertain to the evolutionary aspect (adaptation) of this article
1. More examples of morphological defenses 2. Mention of poison defenses of any kind (dart frog, lubber grasshopper, salamanders) 3.No mention of plants or seeds as a category. --White.2015 (talk) 01:37, 1 October 2014 (UTC)
Taken from article: "Thomson’s gazelles that stot so as to advertise unprofitability" Any ideas what the typo should really reflect? WBardwin 07:35, 1 May 2005 (UTC)
And makes some bizzare claims about 3 animals which i'm skeptical of (the claims, not the animals). Also, the thing about the malaysian ant, I can't find a reference on it outside of wikipedia. 82.69.80.47 (talk) 17:10, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
I've added all the references requested so far (spare the ant one, seeing as google seems flooded with people quoting us). If anyone wishes to scan the article, and place and ((fact)) tags on dubious sounding facts, I'd be happy to add refs - Anxietycello (talk) 00:41, 30 December 2008 (UTC)
Perhaps a Category:Antipredator adaptations is appropriate? Could be good for people looking for further info/examples, and I'm seeing more and more articles of this nature (e.g. I discovered ultrasound avoidance) today. Richard001 (talk) 03:32, 18 June 2010 (UTC)
Anyone else think this should be a Good Article? Seems to meet the criteria! -- Anxietycello (talk) 14:17, 21 August 2010 (UTC)
There is a picture at the bottom of the article with the caption "Aphid feeding on plant sap." I'm curious as to how this is an antipredator adaptation. It isn't explained in the article or caption. I could make some stretch hypothesis about their association with ants, but I'm not sure that is antipredator adaptation and not simply symbiosis. WDavis1911 (talk) 16:53, 11 September 2010 (UTC)
Hello All,
There are two spellings of defense/defence throughout this article. I have decided to change all to the American spelling as there are 8 occurrences of 'defense' & 7 of 'defence' within the article. Of course, I have not altered the form of the word 'defence' when it occurs in the titles of references. Thanks. SaturnCat (talk) 17:00, 22 April 2012 (UTC)
-- I suppose we could also change 'colour' to 'color', but I'm not going to do that now. SaturnCat (talk) 17:17, 22 April 2012 (UTC)
For the crypsis section, more can be added on the different types of crypsis and mimicry and their relations to one anther. This will help people better understand the differences between them. In an article by John Endler, he has a table showing these relations and definitions.[1]This will help to better distinguish between these terms.
Another suggestion for mimicry would be to talk about behavioral mimicry, when an animal mimics the movement of a model animal. The animal avoids detection by mimicking movements of a less preyed upon species. This has been documented in octopus species. Ignasiak.6 (talk) 00:45, 1 October 2014 (UTC)
