Flawed list

[edit]

This is not calculated correctly according to Wikipedia's own definition. For example, Finland's correct score is 3635. Finland got following positions in World Championships: 7. (2005), 3. (2006), 2. (2007) and 3. (2008), added with 2. in Turin 2006. These positions get us to the formula 1020*0.25 + 1120*0.50 + 1160*0.50 + 1160*0.75 + 1120*1.00 = 3635. Didn't anybody wonder why every team got their points reduced by ~300 from last year?86.50.9.167 (talk) 18:47, 19 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know how you compute the 3635, 1020*0.25 + 1120*0.50 + 1160*0.50 + 1160*0.75 + 1120*1.00 = 3385, as in the article. Anyway, the points in the table correspond to the ones at the IIHF's homepage. About your observation that every team got their points reduced by ~300 from last year: the reason is that in 2007 the points of the olympic games had a weigth of 0.75, this year of 0.25 . Sorry, I forgot to include my source. I took the numbers directly from the IIHF[1] right after the gold medal game so they should be accurate. seen0288 20 May 2008 —Preceding comment was added at 04:03, 21 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
