since the Paris Agreement itself is now by far the most relevant international climate agreement i think it makes more sense to compare with international agreements more generally than UN cc agreements specifically; maybe could compare to Kyoto, but i think this point stands more generally

cutting a lot of material that is too specific IMO. There are thousands of reports assessing NDCs and presenting ideas about them, and specifically presenting the results of a few such studies is disproportionate IMO.

I'm not sure if this statement has been mangled out of context over the years, but the negotiators did not say that a 2 degree goal was insufficient [otherwise it would not be the goal of the agreement!]... they said that the INDCs were insufficient to meet the 2 degree goal
