The Britannica article includes all the sources and authors (please don't lie.) As an academician, I can assure you that Encyclopædia Britannica is a far more respected academic source than Wikipedia, which is dominated by nationalist amateur editors.

There is no such "Wikipedia consensus" and Encyclopædia Britannica estimates the figure as 600,000, as do most "neutral" (non-Armenian and non-Turkish) scholars. The "total" pre-WWI Armenian population was 1,750,000 by the way.
