Insect antennae types- The antennae consist of the Scapus at the base which is usually larger in size than the following segments.Next is the Pedicellum followed by the Flagellum which can consist of one or many parts called Flagellomeres. The lenght and number of these Flagellomeres determine the lenght and size of the antennae which can vary between, but also within, different species of insects. The number and form uf these units is an important factor in determing species and sub-species.
