This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of people). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia.

David C. Schendel is an award-winning filmmaker based in San Francisco, California. Schendel’s films focus on stories of humor and the dynamic future of Earth's sustainability.
Born in Springfield, Massachusetts, and raised in Minnesota, Schendel grew up influenced by the arts, as his father Alfred Schendel was an artist (designer/painter/photographer).
Schendel graduated from the University of Washington School of Drama, in which he initially began his career in live-theatre directing before committing his skills to filmmaking. His first feature-length film titled "The Can" premiered at the Coolidge Corner Theatre in Boston, Massachusetts. Early in his career, Schendel honed his filmmaking skills by assisting Sven Nykvist, Allen Daviau, Jerry Bruckheimer, Michael Bay and Errol Morris.
Schendel's films have been recognized and awarded by many film organizations. His award-winning documentary titled "Yank Tanks" provides an insight into the 150,000 classic American cars trapped in Cuba after the Cuban Revolution.[1][2] The movie was shown at film festivals around the world and screened on PBS, the Sundance Channel, and opening night at the New York MoMA Documentary Fortnight.[3]
Schendel's most recent film, titled "The Comedy Club," tells the story of Cobb's Comedy Club.[4] The documentary won a Jury Award for Best Documentary at Cinema at the Edge in Los Angeles, CA.[5] Schendel is currently finishing his next project, "Enduring Democracy: The Monterey Petition," which is funded by the California Library Civil Liberties Grant.[6]
