Buysky District (Russian: Бу́йский райо́н) is an administrative[1] and municipal[7] district (raion), one of the twenty-four in Kostroma Oblast, Russia. It is located in the west of the oblast. The area of the district is 3,248 square kilometers (1,254 sq mi).[citation needed] Its administrative center is the town of Buy (which is not administratively a part of the district).[1] Population: 9,035 (2021 Census);[9] 11,829 (2010 Census);[2] 8,847 (2002 Census);[10] 11,737 (1989 Census).[11]
Within the framework of administrative divisions, Buysky District is one of the twenty-four in the oblast.[1] The town of Buy serves as its administrative center, despite being incorporated separately as a town of oblast significance—an administrative unit with the status equal to that of the districts.[1]
As a municipal division, the district is incorporated as Buysky Municipal District.[7] The town of oblast significance of Buy is incorporated separately from the district as Buy Urban Okrug.[7]
