Baryshsky District (Russian: Бары́шский райо́н) is an administrative[1] and municipal[6] district (raion), one of the twenty-one in Ulyanovsk Oblast, Russia. It is located in the west of the oblast. The area of the district is 2,255.8 square kilometers (871.0 sq mi).[2] Its administrative center is the town of Barysh.[1] Population: 44,034 (2010 Census);[3] 31,444 (2002 Census);[8] 36,230 (1989 Soviet census).[9] The population of Barysh accounts for 38.9% of the district's total population.[3]
