Suspected sockpuppets


Ralf302 made their first edit [1] today at Talk:List of largest empires, a page that Roqui15 has also edited heavily. In this edit, Ralf302 made the same arguments as Roqui15 had previously made (including using the term "uti possidetis, ita possideatis"[2]), provided some of the same external links as Roqui15 had previously used[3], and made the same spelling errors that Roqui15 had previously made (consistent use of "wich" [4][5], "fallow"/"fallowing" [6]). Roqui15 had previously suggested that they could start socking and been warned for doing so, see User talk:Roqui15#Edit warring at List of largest empires. 2001:818:E850:CA00:3020:ED8B:BC6F:F98 (talk) has signed edits with "Ralf302" [7][8]. This pretty clearly demonstrates that these two (the IP and Ralf302) are the same person, though it could of course be a simple case of forgetting to log in. Also, NinjaRobotPirate appears to have  Confirmed this sockpuppetry on 15 July, when declining an unblock request on User talk:Roqui15; see [10]. NinjaRobotPirate appears to have run a second CU request, subsequent to the one performed on 3 July by AmandaNP, and this would appear to supersede AmandaNP's stated opinion on 3 July that blocks of Roqui15 are not CU-blocks; see [11]. — Richwales (no relation to Jimbo) 17:49, 15 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

This strikes me as a bit unnecessary. Yes, RoquePedro is confirmed to Roqui15, as I said on his talk page. It strikes me as oddly bureaucratic to say this, but, yes, I did use the CU tool to confirm these two accounts. Although RoquePedro is CU-blocked, Roqui15 is not. So, technically, WP:CUBL would seem to indicate that anyone could unblock Roqui15 despite having a CU-blocked sock. This is not exactly an uncommon circumstance, though. Maybe the CU is too lazy to reblock the sockmaster, maybe the CU doesn't like bureaucracy, or maybe the CU doesn't feel it's necessary to force a CU review of the sockmaster's block. In this case, it's a mix of all three. If that settles everything, this can be archived. I personally don't see why this needs any further CU attention. Started editing two days ago. Three edits so far: Two about David Melgueiro's supposed voyage through the Northeast Passage (arguing that it could have happened on the talk page and adding it to the article, respectively), something Roqui15 has also added to that article [12] [13]. And of course one about the Portuguese Empire's territorial extent over at Talk:List of largest empires [14], which was Roqui15's main focus (see previous SPI cases). It looks like a WP:DUCK to me. I know you want to be an administrator at all costs, but this is not the way to do it. Who cares if I am Roqui15 or a friend of Roqui15, what is happening on the list of largest empires page is much more serious, you act like the page iss yours, you ignore any source other than Taagepera (I think you have a fetish for that man) and so you are actually the person who should be blocked, or at least you shouldn't be allowed to make any edits on the page in question. This IP has edited Talk:List of largest empires (diff) which was Roqui15's main focus (see previous SPI cases) and Panthera leo melanochaita (diff), which was previously edited by the confirmed sock Roque Pedro (diff). WP:WHOIS gives the exact same address as the previously blocked IP 109.48.210.93 (see here and here, respectively). In conclusion, obvious WP:DUCK. Yes you are. First I was accused by you and then blocked because supposedly had several accounts (that weren't Roqui15), Ralf302 and 3 others. None of these were mine. I did all my best to proof that they were not mine, unfourtanley no admin unblocked me. And due to this I was forced to use my old RoquePedro account (but without even joining the discussion). Then someone and somehow discovered that this account was mine and therefore I was forced to create the account BestaMontalegre. All this mess is because of me being initial falsely accused of having multiple accounts and trying to correct the error on the page list of largest empires plus trying to win the argument against you (the one who owns the page). 109.48.247.82 (talk) 23:41, 24 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Back to editing Talk:List of largest empires from the same IP range (109.48.192.0/18) as before (see SPI archives). Related edit at Talk:Spanish Empire: [18]. Also overlap with other of Roqui15's interests such as megafauna. 109.48.219.173 started editing in October 2022; Roqui15 was indef blocked by Deepfriedokra in August 2022. Roqui15 also had a WP:Topic ban from Talk:List of largest empires and List of largest empires. RoySmith issued an IP range partial block back in September 2020 (broadened to include additional pages by NinjaRobotPirate in October 2020), which might be appropriate again. I'm fairly certain 109.48.208.106 (talk · contribs · WHOIS) is a different person in the same IP range, so a complete IP range block would (if I am correct) cause some collateral damage.
