Fair use rationale for Image:Australian Broadcasting Corporation Logo Transparent.png

Image:Australian Broadcasting Corporation Logo Transparent.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Relay Stations list

The Relay Stations list is not exhaustive. There are many local area tranmitters that aren't listed, such as Lithgow, Bathurst, Cowra and such. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 166.64.1.2 (talk) 01:13, 25 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Problems with title

See Talk:ABT (TV station) and Talk:ABC Television (Australian TV network). There are similar issues with all of the articles in the group (listed in this section of the ABC history article). I started updating Canberra, Tasmania, South Australia, Brisbane and Western Australia, but currently out of steam (and there may well be changes that need to be applied to all of them, so don't want to waste my time). Requested move 23 April 2023

– The ABC stations in Australia are just known as ABC Television now, which is why I had to request the move. The lead paragraph on some of the stations have already been updated, for example the Canberra station. I also want someone to move ABQ (disambiguation) to ABQ, as no ABQ, except the TV station, which doesn't use ABQ anymore, and Albuquerque, New Mexico, which are both now primary topics. I'm pinging @Happily888, to participate in this discussion and leave his opinion. Yours sincerely, TechGeek105 (his talk page) 02:54, 23 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Weak oppose I can't seem to find any evidence that any sources have cared about these name changes (probably because of how confusing it made everything :P), so I'm opposing for now per WP:NAMECHANGE. I think it's more likely that I am simply really bad at searching for this, so if you can find some evidence that sources care about this name change and have been using the new name I will support. https://www.acma.gov.au/sites/default/files/2023-04/stations_book_electronic_edition.pdf#page155, this source confirms all of the TV stations owned by the ABC have the callsign, ABC, @Snowmanonahoe Yours sincerely, TechGeek105 (his talk page) 03:19, 23 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@TechGeek105: one source isn’t quite enough—to justify a page move it should be shown that the majority of sources since the name change have begun using the new name. Snowmanonahoe (talk) 03:51, 23 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Even the ABC itself just uses the term ABC for their TV stations. They do not mention the old callsigns at all. Yours sincerely, TechGeek105 (his talk page) 04:57, 23 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
According to iview, https://iview.abc.net.au/collection/live-streams, they use ABC TV [state/territory name] instead. Yours sincerely, TechGeek105 (his talk page) 04:59, 23 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
See the second-last discussion on Talk:ABC Television (Australian TV network)/Archive 2, @Snowmanonahoe. Yours sincerely, TechGeek105 (his talk page) 05:02, 23 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
We don’t care what ABC uses, we care what the majority of secondary sources use. Snowmanonahoe (talk) 05:24, 23 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I found out that the majority of secondary sources don't use the call sign of the stations at all, and just use ABC. Yours sincerely, TechGeek105 (his talk page) 05:33, 23 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I'm pinging @Laterthanyouthink, since he has participated in this type of discussion before, and to leave his opinion on this discussion. Yours sincerely, TechGeek105 (his talk page) 07:34, 23 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I tend to agree with TechGeek - I have never heard or read these names used since I've been in Australia, which is several decades now. They are not commonly used, and IMO just serve to confuse. Laterthanyouthink (talk) 08:31, 23 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I think the same thing, and I have never heard the callsigns spoken except ABC, @Laterthanyouthink. Yours sincerely, TechGeek105 (his talk page) 09:31, 23 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose, These were the historical names, much live ATN, GTV, HSV, TCN etc are for the Seven and Nine Networks. While they now all operate under the one brand today, they were for a long time separate. A flick through the relevant newspapers for each of the cities from the 1950s shows that these were the names actually used. Juheerere (talk) 03:01, 24 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
After the 1950s it was just known as ABC, and still is to this day, @Juheerere. Yours sincerely, TechGeek105 (his talk page) 07:32, 24 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
