On March 12, Kazim Karabekir who was in charge of the eastern front appeared in front of Erzurum with his army and began the siege, due to lack of food and Andranik could not exploit these guerrilla capabilities the Armenians were forced to retreat. withdraw from Erzurum, this is how the Turks re-occupied Erzurum after 2 years of Russian occupation.[2][3][4]
