Moirang (Meitei: ꯃꯣꯢꯔꯥꯡ, ꯃꯣꯏꯔꯥꯡ), also spelt as Moilang (Old Manipuri: ꯃꯣꯢꯂꯥꯡ, ꯃꯣꯏꯂꯥꯡ), is a small town and an assembly constituency, in Bishnupur district in the Indian state of Manipur.[1][2] It is the traditional centre of Meitei culture. An ancient temple dedicated to the pre-Hindu deity Thangjing is one of the most important historic sites in Moirang.[3][4][5] It is one of the most visited tourist destinations in Northeast India. Moirang is the first place in Indian soil where the tricolor National Flag of India was hoisted for the first time. The INA War Museum and the INA Martyrs' Memorial Complex were developed to recall and show respect for the roles of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose and his Indian National Army to the Indian Freedom Struggle.[6]
