Ilomantsi is a municipality in North Karelia, Finland. As of 31 December 2023, 4,406 people lived there. It is the most eastern point of Finland. The nearest town is Joensuu, 72 kilometres (45 miles) away. Neighbouring municipalities are Lieksa and Joensuu. It is near the border with Russia.
There are three lakes called Koitere, Nuorajärvi and Virmajärvi. The Pampalo gold mine is in Ilomantsi.
