Gurnee (/ˈɡɜːrˌniː/) is a village in Lake County, Illinois, United States. Its population was 30,706 as of the 2020 census.[1] It borders the city of Waukegan and is thought to be a part of the Chicago metropolitan area. It is named after Mayor of Chicago Walter S. Gurnee.
It is best known for being the location of Six Flags Great America and Gurnee Mills, together drawing over 26 million visitors annually.[2]
