Corey Stapleton (born September 17, 1967) is an American politician. He was the Secretary of State of Montana from 2017 to 2021. He was a Republican. He was also Montana State Senator[1] who served from 2001 to 2009. He unsuccessfully ran for the United States Senate in 2014 and for Governor of Montana twice in 2012 and 2020.
Stapleton was a candidate for the United States House of Representatives from Montana in the 2020 election, losing the Republican primary to Matt Rosendale.[2]
On March 10, 2022 Stapleton announced that he was "testing the waters" for a presidential campaign in the 2024 election.[3] Stapleton later confirmed he was running on November 11, 2022.[4] He withdrew from the election on October 13, 2023.[5]
