Colony is a city in Anderson County, Kansas, United States. In 2020, 381 people lived there.[3]
Colony was created in 1872. This was when a railroad was built through the area.[4] It was named after a colony from Ohio and Indiana, which settled in the neighborhood.[5]
The railroad tracks in Colony have since been changed to a rail trail. The trail is part of the Prairie Spirit Trail State Park.[6]
Colony is at 38°4′15″N 95°21′58″W / 38.07083°N 95.36611°W (38.070803, -95.366109).[7] The United States Census Bureau says that the city has a total area of 0.48 square miles (1.24 km2). All of it is land.[8]
Colony has hot, humid summers and generally mild to cool winters. The Köppen Climate Classification system says that Colony has a humid subtropical climate, abbreviated "Cfa" on climate maps.[9]
