China (People's Republic of China, or also referred as Mainland China) has various provincial level administrative regions. As of this updating (October 2018), there are 34 such regions: 23 provinces, 5 autonomous regions, 4 municipalities (mega cities that are directly controlled by the central government) and 2 special administrative regions.
