Amadeo Raúl Carrizo (12 June 1926 – 20 March 2020), popularly known by his first name "Amadeo", was an Argentine football goalkeeper. He was born in Rufino, Argentina.[1] From 1945 to 1968, he played for Club Atlético River Plate.
The IFFHS ranked Carrizo as the best South American keeper of the 20th century in 1999.[2][3][4]
He played for the Argentina national football team with significant success, especially against Brazil, but he also suffered a 6–1 defeat against Czechoslovakia, in the 1958 FIFA World Cup.[5] He played for the national team from 1954 to 1964.
Carrizo died at a hospital in Buenos Aires on 20 March 2020, aged 93.[6]
