San Nicolas is a fift cless municipality in the province o Batangas, Philippines. Accordin tae the 2010 census, it haed a population o 20,599 fowk.[3] It is the smallest municipality in Batangas wi 14.37 square kilometres o laund aurie, which includes half of the Taal Volcano island.
In 1955 the barrios o San Nicolas, Gipit, Bangin, Pansipit, Calangay, Sinturisan, Talang, Abilo, Balete, Bancora, Saimsim, Maabud, Mulawin, Tambo, Calumala, Alasas, Calawit and Pulangbato, then part of the municipality o Taal, wur separatit an constitutit intae a new an separate municipality kent as San Nicolas.[4]
San Nicolas is politically subdividit intae 18 barangays.[2]
In 1957, the follaein sitios wur convertit frae their mither barrios an convertit intae unthirlt barrios: Burol frae Tambo,[5] Tagodtod from Munlawin,[6] Kalawit and Pulang-Bato from Alas-as,[7][8] an Baluk-Balok frae Gipit.[9]
