Dunkeld an Birnam are twa adjacent touns in Perth an Kinross, Scotland. They lie on opposite banks o the River Tay, an war first linked bi a brig built in 1809 bi Thomas Telford.[2] The twa places lie close tae the Hieland Boundary Fault, whit marks the geological boundary atween the Hielands an the Lawlands, an are frequently descrived as the "Gatewey tae the Hielands" due tae their position on the main road an rail lines north. Dunkeld an Birnam share a railway station, Dunkeld & Birnam, on the Highland Main Line, an are aboot 15 mile (24 km) north o Perth on whit is now the A9 road.[3]
